Any ACC students out there?

U.S.A. Texas

I am eagerly awaiting my acceptance letter (fingers crossed!) ~ just wanted to see if there were any other Austinites out there - current, future, or former!

I'm right there with ya! I was #123 of the 225 that applied last semester. I should make it this time around. Like you, I am eagerly waiting for my e-mail and letter of acceptance. I will probably take the 8 wk. RNSG 1105 from Aug. to Oct. Does anybody have any informaiton about the GAIN program?

Has anyone heard about the new HESI requirements that the ACC nursing staff voted on in Dec 2005?

I'm not aware of any recent changes, but I just took the exam for the first time last month. I'm not sure if the test itself was any different before, but I thought it tested on pretty basic info. What are the new requirements?

I think they just changed the rule about how many times you can take.

Right now they give you only one chance and if you fail any of subject you

can retake only that subject one more time in a calender year. So, you have to be well prepared before you decide to go to take HESI.

Anyway, is there anyone who knows how many students applied for the next spring semester? I applied last week and want to know ball park figure.

Here is some great advice....If you live in North Austin or Round Rock....consider Temple College or Temple College at Taylor. Great program, half the cost of ACC and perhaps some of the best facilities in the nation, including a 7.5 million dollar simulation building shared with ems and Tx A&M med school. The wait generally speaking is less than ACC and it is only short drive north, no traffic!!! Taylor is in Williamson County and very close to Austin. They have LVN school there and are soon I'm told, to open bridging or ADN someday. Hope that helps...check our their facilities, including simulation rooms, ICU, ER, Med-surg, etc...

hope that helps someone with wait time..

I think there were around 250 that applied for the '07 spring semester. I just received my e-mail acceptance yesterday, and am I relieved. I live in Hutto and checked with TJC when I started my pre-reqs for ACC and they told me in '03 that they would be adding the ADN dept. to the Taylor location soon. I went there yesterday and they told me the same thing. "Within the next year or two." So you will have to go to Temple for clinicals. Anybody else got there acceptance e-mail from ACC?

Congrats austinrnguy! I wonder what the range of ranking scores is. Think they'll let those of us who didn't get in this time know that information so we can get an idea of when we might rank? I've got to work for the next year to save up to pay for the program anyway (undergrad student loans are maxed out), but I'm still eager to find that out since I believe my score was pretty weak.

Hi everyone, I just got my e-mail that I can take RNSG 1105 as well https://allnurses.com/forums/images/icons/icon10.gif. This is my second time trying even though I got perfect score on all my pre-reqs. It is a tough program to get in but it is the best. All in all, it's worth waiting.

Hey Mama,

As a reference point for ya ~ the Fall class made the cut somewhere in the 54-point-somethings. On the lower end of the 54's. It really comes down to decimal points. I had a 56.0 and was ranked 58th of 226.

Home-Dad,

Did you get a 7 on the Hesi? I can't imagine why you wouldn't have been accepted for the Fall otherwise. ?? I think it stinks that so much of our overall score is weighted so heavily by the Hesi grade.

Good luck to you guys, I know the wait is gruesome. I've been in such a rush to start school, and now that it's a month away, I'm starting to freak. Every day my feet get colder. By the way, don't worry about the skills class. It's nothing to stress about. It's really fun, and not at all intensive. A lot of common sense stuff. Also a good taste of how they test us: All multiple choice, but more than one answer is right - we have to pick the most right answer. Arrgh. THAT'S what scares me about nursing school. Rote memorization no more!!

Ase,

You're right, I only got 7 on my HESI. I rushed to take the HESI before even taking pharmacology and I don't even bother retaking it again. Anyway, I guess that is the reason I did not get in the first time around.

I know ACC already emailed about ranking score and nursing skill.

Anyone knows when the ranking for next spring comes?

I was told that it is now a Pass/Fail test. I took the test in Dec 2004... So if you took the test already and you got anything below 70% on any section you have to retake the section again. the problem is is that they did not notify people right away.....

Congrats!! Are you going to Eastview or Cypress for RNSG 1105? I am going to EVC and taking the 8 wk. starting Aug. that way I can get into the GAIN program and start working in a hospital setting. I want all the experience I can get. I can't wait. If you are taking that this sem. we will be in the ADN program together starting in '07. Stoked there will another guy. Again, congrats and good luck.
