Massachusetts voters will decide on a patient ratio proposition this fall. The opposition (ANA, hospital execs, insurance industry, etc.) recently put out this ridiculous commercial. Featured in it is a Hillary Clinton bashing, fox news loving, minimum wage worker hating non-clinical nurse who enjoys sharing memes from Turning Point USA. TPU is of course a wonderful non-profit with close ties to the Trump family and Ben Shapiro and has been hostile towards minorities and people of color.

World, meet Amanda Ford, RN. Pretty sure she actually lives in New Hampshire, too!

Commercial: It's been called the "most irresponsible... - Coalition to Protect Patient Safety

That suppose to be a bad thing. BTW, Candace Owen, the spokes person for Turning Point, is black.

Even giving her the benefit of the doubt, the lady giving testimony at the Mass. House hearing leaves a lot to be desired. The old tired tropes of "evil corporations making....profit just to make women and babies die because they hate babies" are played out and don't mean anything.

They completely telegraph that you don't have an argument. If she had something intelligent to say that actually had something to do with the subject at hand, it would have been more useful. Saying that something "flies in the face of reason" without substantiating it, saps any credibility at all.

Generally speaking, yes, those are "bad things". Posting memes that disparage minimum wage workers is not something I'd like to see in a nurse leader. But, I'm sure that she's very supportive and respectful of underpaid CNAs and ancillary staff.

She spoke directly to the issue at hand, patient ratio reform. You can say something flies in the face of reason if it goes against common sense - i.e. challenging the notion that more nurses = less safety (if you believe that, get a new job).

I'm so sick and tired of politics. You can't escape it, not even here.

I actually think this post belongs in the Political Forum.

This is not really the place for arguing politics.
