Antelope Valley College Spring 2016

Published

Hello everyone,

I have just applied to the nursing program at Antelope Valley College in Lancaster. I just wanted to see if anyone else has applied yet. Hopefully we see how this goes.

I have everything but the CPR done & waiting for my drug test results that i did today. I have to wait until january (unfortunately) to get my cpr card. But thats okay ill still be able to register before then :)

I feel like I'm way behind :( I'm doing all my immunizations/physical/drug test at one time...I was thinking it might be bad idea to do it all at once lol but when I called they didn't say anything about having to stretch it out lol

Yes they do! I think she said they are there 4 times a week. I just wanted to get it done before the holidays lol.

Sorry, where did you say you were getting your cpr from? Through UAV?

Whoops forgot to say my appt for all of that isn't till the 10th

Oh youre not behind! I know others that dont even have appts for physicals & that stuff yet... i just wanted to get everything done before christmas so i didnt forget a step, etc.

Plus that stuff only takes like a week to come back for results, dont stress it.

No its not through UAV. it's a place on the east side of Palmdale. I found it on the AHA website. You need a certain one. Life sustaining or something like that. The lady knew the difference lol. And make sure you do your physicals because one of the vaccines I needed HAD to be separated by a minimum of 4 weeks. Make sure you read over the paperwork so that they didn't miss anything. It's VERY important. A lot of stuff is time sensitive. I got my results back within 3 days of my blood/urine samples being taken though.

hmm... My NP didnt really say anything about my vaccines but only that i should be immune to them?? I got all of those vaccines as a child and she said we would just do some bloodwork to check for immunities. Is that what it means by "titer"? Does that count?

My only vaccine issue was the chicken pox. I never had them because I got the vaccine as a baby but they didn't know it needed a 20 year booster. Also. I have to reschedule my CPR class because I work. If anyone is willing to do the 50 dollar one in east Palmdale I'll wait. If so can you comment with the day after you are available then we can narrow down a day a time! Thanks! ☺️ If not it's okay too lol

Yes the titers check your immunity levels! They said the vaccincines had to be no more than 5 years old.

Man, i have to redo everything. I won't be able to sign up for a CPR until after the new year Bc I'll be out of town for the holidays

Oh.. where does it say that it has to be no more than 5 years old? Mine were a long time ago but my NP said i should be okay with them all in the immunity blood test since they are for life lol
