Remember ABCD airway, breathing, circulatory and defects
a. shows a defect in blood glucose, but also shows signs of improvement
b. shows a circulatory complication of birth, possible hemorrhage.
I would pick b due to the fact that its circulatory and you also need to assess to see if the drug therapy is working.
Yeah that's true. There's a sign of improvement. That's why the answer is 2.

Yeah you can't really use ABC on the NCLEX. In the newborn less than 24 hours old
Your 5 big surgical complications in order of priority are:
1.) Anesthesia related complications
2.) BLEEDING!
3.) DVT/PE
4.) Pneumonia
5.) Infection
thank u all..i understand now

I totally agree - I wasn't able to apply nursing process, Maslow, or ABC to almost any of my questions on NCLEX.
The only respiratory thing you care about on the NCLEX is either a pulse ox/SpO2 less than 90% or a PaO2 less than 60.

Think ABCs airway, breathing and circulation. You assess the situation and you see an improvement with a, so your focus of care should be directed to the 2nd patient because something is going on. Bleeding
Another thing to apply on the nclex is ADPIE assess, diagnose, plan/goals, implement and evaluate
