AmyLiz-
I am so thrilled for you! The good Lord does want you to be a nurse. That is so awesome!!!
Something similar happened to me as well.
I had been praying for a year about my husband and my financial situation. I knew it would be difficult for me to work and attend school full-time, but I also knew I had to have some income coming in (my husband doesn't make enough to cover all of our bills). I kept hoping and praying that my employer would lay me off so that I could draw unemployment and attend school. Everyone around me thought I was so crazy- they said there was no way that would ever happen (I had been with the same employer for 5 years in a non-health related field). Well, guess what? About two months before I was scheduled to begin school full-time, I got laid off!!!
I started school full-time today. Best wishes to everyone else who is starting the nursing program. Where God guides, He will provide!!
Roxie187 & Heather,
You may already know this but if you were laid off due to foreign competion you may qualify for TRA (Trade Readjustment Act) I qualified when my plant closed. They are paying for any cost not covered by my grant or scholarships. It can be a headache geting it started but it is deffinatly worth it!! Let me know if you have any questions reguarding TRA.
Congratulation to you Amyliz that is so great.

I am so happy I could cry! :)
I was really sweating whether or not I would be able to attend classes this fall due to financial reasons. I was out of work for over a year (the airline I was working for shut down operations) before finding a job last November (only making $8/hour, which isn't much...but at least it's something)...then my husband was out of work for 3-1/2 months due to having a tumor removed from his head...so finances have pretty much stunk for us for a few years now. I haven't been able to get any financial aid, due to the fact I already have a Bachelor Degree and I hadn't had enough school recently to be able to apply for scholorships.
Fall term tuition is due Sept. 5th. I was sweating over it because coming up with $370+ was not going to be easy for me. (Thankfully I go to one of the most inexpensive schools in the state).
Well, I was sitting here a work (I work for a friend I grew up with in his store) & his dad came in. I've gone to the same church as this family since I was a tot. Anyway, his dad was talking to me & I said something about not being sure if I was going to be able to go back to school this fall or not. Then ... He told me to give him my tuition bill & he'd take care of it for me!!!
OMG
I was floored.
He said that it's not a loan...it's a gift.
OMG
I'm so happy & still can't believe it. Of course I thanked him over & over again & will be sending him a nice card this week as well. Hmm...might bake him some cookies too.
