NURSING! For the 17th consecutive year, Nursing was named the most trusted profession by the annual Gallup poll. More than 4 of every 5 Americans rated the honesty and ethical standards of nurses as “very high” or “high.”

Why do you think that is?

I believe there are around 3 million nurses in the US so there's a good chance that many people have had contact with a nurse at some time in their lives (if not as a patient, their family member, friend, etc.), who demonstrated ethics/honesty. I think the fact that we have a "Nurses Code of Ethics" carries some weight with the general public. I do think though that in terms of the survey it's all relative.
