Hi! I am about to graduate in May & plan to take the ANCC certification examination.
I was wondering if anyone has taken this exam this year yet? I was curious how long it takes to get the authorization to test after graduation?
Also, any advice on books to look at for cultural topics and other non-clinical topics?
I took the APEA review in January and have read over Fitzgerald review book, & Leik book.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you in advance!
First thanks for your reply! I have just read post that state actual theorists aren't really on the test which is why I was questioning it.
I've answered multiple questions on BoardVitals' ANCC test bank with theorists in them. Not sure if they will be on the actual exam ... but you never know. I wouldn't take information from others who have tested to heart -- all of the exams are different. Just because one person didn't get those particular questions doesn't mean there are no questions in the test bank. If I had to pick one to know - it would be Prochaska & DiClemente Stages of Change. Also, have had multiple questions about developmental stages in peds. I think there may not be as many on the ANCC exam as on the AANP exam, but I am reviewing them just in case.

I haven't tested yet - graduated this last Saturday. Waiting on final grades to get to ANCC. Looking at the infamous "yellow book" - it's pink actually, there are 7 theorists listed - Bandura, Becker, Pender, Maslow, Purnell, Prochaska & DiClemente, and Ajzen. Human Development theory -- the usual suspects: Erikson, Piaget. Bowen and Sadavoy. On one of the quiz banks - think it was Board Vitals, I got several questions referring to what Kubler Ross stage was this.
