Anbody Else Gain a Ton of Weight in Nursing School?

Published

I swear, since I have been in school, I've gained an undisclosed amount of weight and it's soooo depressing! So of course I started back up at the gym in January ready for action. I started back to school towards the 2nd week of January but I still managed to hang in there. However, once the clinicals and the papers, and the paperwork and the studying (BTW I'm in an accelerated program) kicked in, I find myself glued to the table or the computer. Its never ending! I constantly feel like I'm under a pile of work and I feel guilty for any moment I take to do anything non school related.

On top of that I have a husband and kids who need me and a house thats a disaster... how do you all manage? I am up at like 4am to get my kids ready for school and at clinicals by 6am. I'm not out of school until 6 or 7pm and I have to come home and get busy with dinner, help kids with homework, get them ready for bed, get everything together for the next day (although hubby helps) and homework oh not to mention studying for every other week exams and in between that theres sleep.

Where does the workout happen? I've just resorted to small changes like not snacking on junk all day, and instead, taking baby carrots, grapes, sugar free jello or yogurt, nuts etc as snacking and taking lean cuisines

Thanks

I gained 25lbs since I started nursing school. I have 1 more year to go so I'm just wondering how many more pounds I'll gain.

Now that things are slowing down 2 semesters left to go... I am switching gears and focusing on weight loss instead of the dreaded days left to go.... so far 10 lbs down 50 left to go.

My problem is i LOST weight, Im a guy who LOVES to work out, lift weights etc. All my size went out the freakin door! So depressing, when I did sneak a few visits in, once a week at most, I would feel so guilty and really not accomplish much. Next semester I may just stick to cardio to try to relieve stress.

I can't eat at all when I'm stressed...I literally get a bit nauseous from stress. Though I can think extremely well under pressure, I can't EAT under pressure, LOL! I'm one of those people who literally "forget to eat."

I rid myself of a lot of stress by running or biking, too. No matter how busy I am (I have a husband and 3 kids, too!), I have to "decompress" by exercising. It's not an option, I make it mandatory for me. Plus, that double-caff coffee I drink all day tends to act as a natural appetite suppressant, LOL!
