i have question, my cc offers anatomy and physiology seperately, the nursing school i want to apply to only admits in spring and when you apply you have to be in or complete all your a&p. so the question is would it be really CRAZY of me to take both of these in the same semester or do you think it would be ok? thanks in advance for the advice.

I don't think it would be crazy, as long as both professors go through each system at the same time. My school does the same and if I had taken both at the same time, I may have been more confused because the my physiology professor went through the systems faster than my Anatomy professor did.
But I also think it depends on the individual, and their motivation to succeed. I know a student who took Phys before taking Anatomy, so everyone is different.

I took them together in a single semester with 2 different professors. It could be done, but I thought physiology was a hard class. Anatomy wasn't hard, but there was a WHOLE lot of rote memorization. I wouldn't take any other classes if you want to keep you GPA high enough for nursing school entrance requirements, and you should plan to study a lot.

I was lucky enough to have my school do A&P together but because I did evening classes my class was 5 hrs long (3hrs lec & 2 hr Lab) once a week ,so both are taught by the same Prof. Its allot of work but if you put in a little each day,you dont have to get stressed out at testing time. You will be fine if u do your work.Go for it:up:

I did Physiology before Anatomy and am very glad I did it that way. I'm one of the people who finds Physiology much easier than Anatomy, so having already done the Physiology has helped me, both because it means I already know some of the information and because it increased my confidence. I don't know if I would have stuck with it if I'd done Anatomy first, because memorization isn't my strong point. I'd totally recommend that people who are better at figuring out processes than memorization take Physiology first.
I have several people in my Anatomy class taking both at the same time, and they're managing. I don't know if they're doing their absolute best in each class, but I can see taking both at once being not a whole lot of extra work if both teachers are covering the same systems at roughly the same times, as ours are.

I am doing same this term, A&P I, combined. Next term will be A&P II. Same prof. twice a week for four hours each class (2 lec/2 lab). Today was my first class...I am still trying to figure out if it was my professors knowledge of overly huge medical terms that I couldnt understand or if it was his too hip lingo...anyways, good luck me, cause I really think i'm going to need it. Now to go study what I should have caught on to after four hours in class

I took both together AND took Micro (they were each 5 credits - so 15 credits together!). And I have three small kids and I got As...so you can definitely do it :)
Although I was told that Physiology was much harder than Anatomy, I found it to be a breeze compared to Anatomy. But then again, I had a tough Anatomy professor who I felt prepared me well for Physiology. I got an A in both. :nuke:

I would say take one at a time if you want to ensure a good GPA. My cc offered A&P combined for two semesters so it worked out....I did kill myself to get A's both semesters!! I honestly can't imagine taking both at the same time! Many people try to do this and end up ruining their chances at getting in to RN school (which defeats the whole purpose)! I'm glad I took it one step at a time since I was just accepted a few days ago!!!
Good Luck whichever way you go:)
Thank you so much for the encouragement.
