I have taken A&P twice and only got a D+. If i take it again and get a better grade, will the two D+s be considered? not sure how that works because those grades may bring my GPA down.

Good day:

It depends on the school. Have you checked with your advisor?

Thank you.

This is something that you would need to ask the specific programs that you are interested in attending as different programs do different things.. some will only use the highest grade earned.. some will average them together.. and others yet will only allow 1 repeat...

You need to call your school about that. Some schools will average, some schools will take the highest grade. Before you retake it again, make sure you spend a lot of time evaluating what went wrong. Your D+ will show up on your transcript no matter what and nursing schools will see them. Make sure you can get an "A" if you retake again.

It all depends on the school, but in many cases the two attempts will be factored into your overall GPA. Have you checked the program(s) you are applying to to ensure that they accept three attempts for A&P? Some schools have a limit on the amount of attempts they will consider valid.

Welcome to Allnurses.com!

The answer to your question totally depends on the policies and procedures at the school that you are attending. But before you even attempt to retake A&P, your time would best be spent figuring out why you earned 'D' grades not just once, but twice, in this course. Good luck to you!

Some schools only allow 1 retake. Some schools allow what feels like a million. Some schools take the grade off the transcript immediately, others leave it on their permanently.

You need to do two things.

First, determine why you have gotten a D+ twice. It shows that you still are not grasping the material even after going through the course twice. To be competitive for most nursing programs you will most likely need to get no less than a B.

Second, you need to talk to the nursing programs about their policies. Some do no allow retakes of any kind.
