Has anyone ever taken the A&P classes online? How did you do? What did you like or dislike? I work full time and have no nighttime daycare, so this is pretty much the only option I have. I want to get the last 3 pre reqs out of the way, so I can put myself on the long 'ole waiting list. I have A&P I and II and Micro-biology left before I can apply. Then I get to sit on the waiting list until I get called since all of my general ed and the like are done. How fun! Thanks for your responses.
Thanks!

I'm taking this online through ccconline. I love the class, but its a whole lot of work!! Here's my points structure: quizzes worth 190, assignments worth 130, discussion 100, labs & lab quizzes 450, learning journal 180 - total possible points 1050. My journal entries are 500-600 words, assignments about 250-500 words. My last assignment was to pick a genetic disease and talk about the gene/s involved, what protein they encode, the normal functions in the body and how their structure and function differs in the disorder. There is a ton of writing in this class, I think because the teacher wants us to understand the material rather than just have it memorized. I'm glad though because my quizzes have been as low as a 75%, but I still manage an A with all the other work.
Anyone take this class at Rio Salado?I am looking to enroll, but want some feedback.
Thanks
Rio doesn't have a very good reputation in regards to A&P, from what I've read here. I lasted about a week before dropping. I agree with others -- Rio really drops the ball on this course.
That said, they are GREAT for many other courses. Just not A&P.
I took it through ccconline.org (colorado community colleges online). You register at a home college and sign up for your class online which goes through ccconline. Then you order your labkit from labpaq and it comes in the mail. Your professor then tells you which labs s/he wants you to do during the class and you do it like you would a regular lab, report and all. You submit your work electronically and viola! your done. :)
I love ccconline, but there are other options out there too, check instate first because of expense. I have taken Gen Bio, AP 1 and Chem all with labs (got all As) and will be taking Micro and AP 2 this summer with labs as well.
Good luck!
Okay is there anyway for someone to private message members in the discuss to talk more about this issue? I wish to find these courses and be able to take them as a pre-requisite, to other courses. Figure if I can take it online, and then take a CLEP for it, how can a professor or system deny my thorough knowledge of the course work?

Hello Offroad and welcome to Allnurses. You will be able to send private messages once you have 15 posts.
I was investigating Accreditation and found that for nursing the two accredited organizations are the NLN and the CCNE.
So do these accrditation organizations accept the online courses in Chemistry (1 &2) and maybe Biology 1, towards the requirements of a nursing program education? Thus letting you sit for the boards, when you complete the program?
