Anatomy & Physiology??

Published

So I'm going into my second semester getting my prerequisites for nursing, and my advisor told me anatomy & physiology is the science class I should take. The A&P class does not have any pre reqs, however after signing up for the class the teachers syllabus says she thinks you should have at least a college bio or Chem class under your belt first and that it's a 2nd college year level class. Am I totally set up for failure?? I'm pretty organized and good at studying but from anyone who's gone through this class, is it possible to still get a good grade with no knowledge of bio?? Thank you for any help.

Anatomy was by far the hardest of the two. However, those two are a piece of cake compared to Microbiology. Of all the science class I took in college, which includes (General Biology, General Chemistry, Organic Chem, Anatomy, Physiology, Microbiology) Micro was definitely the hardest, then organic chem comes after. The easiest one was physiology. Yeah I know, General Biology was harder for me than physiology. I just applied to the nursing programs here in san diego. Fingers crossed! Good luck to you as well! It seems like yesterday when I was in your shoes worrying about pre reqs. Trust me, you'll be so busy with studying that you wouldn't even know that time has passed.

What did you find difficult about Microbio? I just started last week, so I'm being nosy.

You really do need Chem if you're going to do well in Physio. Physio is ALL about chemistry.

Honestly, it'll be hard for you at first. There are some parts(like the RNA, DNA sequencing) that will be harder without that prior knowledge. However, I think that if you study hard enough, and focus - you'll be able to get through it. Just maybe touch bases on the amino acids, functions, and what chemicals are prevalent in the body. :)
