Hi everyone! Quick post- just wanted to give back to the community...when I was looking into various FNP programs that both fit my budget and had a challenging curriculum, American Sentinel was one of the schools that I looked into. Unfortunately, although I could find decent information regarding their RN-BSN program, there wasn't much about their FNP program.
It took me months of speaking with them, going through the catalog and finally occurring to me to look at the profiles of NPs on LinkedIn that graduated from American Sentinel to make a final decision. So, even though I don't start my first class until February 17th, I thought I'd just throw this out there in case anyone has questions later on as I progress through the program?
muimai10, thanks so much for this information. I am really glad to hear about this, as I am a little....well....concerned about the 3P's. I am going to sign up for APEA and start studying all the questions, so hopefully it will help prepare me a little. I plan to start October 19th, so I have a little time to prepare in advance. Good luck with everything, and keep me posted as to how it's going!
Hi Pilot2FNP, You’re going to be fine, yes whenever you are comfortable to start go for it. I think it’s a good idea to start with the APEA review thats gonna help you prepare for the exam. Alright I’ll keep you posted and if you have anymore question just let me know Thanks and stay safe
Hi it depends on what subjects you’re going to take, and yes you can manage that I have a 16 month old daughter she keeps me busy and I only work part time too.. For long assignments it depend I usually do it in 2 days and for discussion post maybe 5-6 hours.
Greetings- I wanted to know how the courses are going? How many research paper in a course. If there’s testing can we look at our tests afterwards to see our progress?
Hi, Online class, there us a weekly discussion post, and for assignment/research paper it depends on the subject.. but usually 3-4 paper per subject. . and for test yes you will be able to retake the test once
@muimai10Thank you! Great information to know, I feel so much better knowing we can retest. Does the retest have the same questions? I’m entering into pathophysiology next month. Have you done the exit exam? If so, what does it entail and can you also retake it?
I’m not sure about the exit exam, there are no exams on pathophysiology. but for advance physical assessment there is a midterm that is proctored.. and final exam
@muimai10 Thank you so much for your response and for keeping the thread going.
Hi there! Thinking of starting there in January. Do you feel like the work is manageable? I have 2 kids under 2 so I’m trying to find the best program to fit my busy life, but still get good education. How much group work/discussion questions/exams would you say there are? Do they help find clinicals? Thank you!
I think its okay, I have a 16 month old and its okay the discussion and assignment depends in the subject. I think you have yo find your own preceptors..

Hi there! I’m still in my first class advance Pathophysiology, so far it’s been good I think it’s going to be the easiest of the 3p’s that you have to take. The other two are physical Assessment and Pharma. My professor is awesome. 3p’s exam is a must before you can proceed to the program.
