Hi everyone! Quick post- just wanted to give back to the community...when I was looking into various FNP programs that both fit my budget and had a challenging curriculum, American Sentinel was one of the schools that I looked into. Unfortunately, although I could find decent information regarding their RN-BSN program, there wasn't much about their FNP program.
It took me months of speaking with them, going through the catalog and finally occurring to me to look at the profiles of NPs on LinkedIn that graduated from American Sentinel to make a final decision. So, even though I don't start my first class until February 17th, I thought I'd just throw this out there in case anyone has questions later on as I progress through the program?

I am new here. I I’ve been a nurse for a very long time and have finally decided to go back to obtain my MSN -NP as a psychiatric nurse practitioner. I have enrolled in Sentinel University and start Jan. 18th. I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions on what I can do to prepare. I’m a little nervous about going back to school after all this time. Also, anyway else starting in January 2021?
Hi! I’m starting in January too

Let me know if you find out
Hi,
Are u doing the FNP or PMHNP? In either case, I guess we both start with pathophysiology? have you bought the books yet?

I’m doing FNP, for now at least. Yes first 3 classes are the same. I got the books already from eBay 1 edition older for $20 and the apa book is current edition bc it has to be.
Great. Perhaps we will be on some discussion posts together. Looking forward to starting a new chapter.
You don’t have to decide until you’re close the end. I would like to do urgent care and I think you need FNP for that. I think you can do internal medicine as FNP can’t you?
Ya I was told after the 3 p exam you are able to choose your specialty. I’m leaning towards psych APRN for job stability and pay.

I’m concerned about the pay cut for FNP ?
Ya FNP or acute geriatrics for urgent care. I just want something I know for sure will be not as stressful and hopefully in demand as much as it is now. Not a lot of people want to do psych FNP

I’m sure 10 years from now we’re going to be independent practitioners, not needing and MD to practice so I think either way will be fine
Good to hear that we can choose our specialty after the 3 P’s. I’m leaning towards psych but I may change my mind.
I am a little nervous about juggling work and school but some of the other posts on here have indicated that it’s manageable.
