Hi everyone! Quick post- just wanted to give back to the community...when I was looking into various FNP programs that both fit my budget and had a challenging curriculum, American Sentinel was one of the schools that I looked into. Unfortunately, although I could find decent information regarding their RN-BSN program, there wasn't much about their FNP program.

It took me months of speaking with them, going through the catalog and finally occurring to me to look at the profiles of NPs on LinkedIn that graduated from American Sentinel to make a final decision. So, even though I don't start my first class until February 17th, I thought I'd just throw this out there in case anyone has questions later on as I progress through the program?

Hello .

Also interested in FNP

is [MODERATOR EDIT OF NAME] your advisor ? I ve left a messg for her to call me back . I did speak with someone else just now for some answers . She told me that we have to take 3ps exam . That one must pass with 67% and above. If fail then has to take a diagnostic prep course and then repeat the test . Have you taken this ? Wondering if it's hard. . I've never heard of any other school doing this . She said it's 1 exam for 3 courses . I would be getting 20% off tuition so that's the reason I'm interested. I was told all classes are 8 weeks . Do you feel that's too much or manageable ? Surprised because most schools are 8 weeks and then later the rest of courses are 16 weeks . I've been trying since last week and finally when I got a text yesterday from her then she didn't reply and I also emailed . So I hope today calls me back .im also skeptical because I've never heard of this school . I only found about it because listed as an educational partner with the nurses organization I'm with .

I'm in my second class, it's pretty standard for 8 week courses in an accelerated program. That's how I got my BSN. And yes yes this school does it different, they do the 3ps first then the 3 p exam. If you pass, then you're able to enroll into the actual NP Program. It's a way to weed out the weak, I think because they offer such big discounts.

Thank you for your reply . You have no idea how happy I am to get info on this school from another student . Yes when she told me 8 weeks I was like wow then this is accelerated . I asked her the percentage of students passing 3p exam on first try for she said she didn't know . I do get a 20% off with my organization which brings it down to 25k . It isn't bad really I feel it's cheaper than other schools but would like it cheaper LOL . I was very surprised that I don't need to do an essay or recommendation letters . She said that with certain GPA's more documentation is needed . She said that there are internal scholarships as well . I plan to apply for external but difficult to get for Grad.

which one was your first class and how was it ? Which is second class currently ? Sorry all these questions I'm just so nervous about grad school and also because I want to make sure I'm making correct decision . I don't live in CT . I really didn't want na out of state school because then I think about how I will have to travel for graduation but that's a one time event I know . But then it's a burden in a way for my immediate family  to also travel to graduation .

Hey, yeah I know I was the same, skeptical.
I started with Patho, I'm in pharm, and next is physical assessment. With any accelerated online program, you get out what you put in. So you really have to be all in, for me so far pharmacology is tough, but I'm half way through it, just take it one day a time. I know some people take the 3 ps in different order.  Good luck! Hope it goes smooth with you.

Thank you 😊 and good luck to you . That's great you will be done with 3 classes soon !!

Glad to see this thread active again! I graduated in September 2022, took the ANCC exam 2 weeks later & passed 🙂 Starting the  Clinical DNP this Fall at Yale!

Congrats to you ! Sounds amazing ! How did you like Post overall ? How was the 3p exam ? I'm still skeptical of this school . It's hard because I barely found about it . Also found out it's all pre recorded and no live classes which I don't know how I feel about that . I'm out of state  as well and wanted in state . However , interested because if discount . Do they have the the clinical DNP as well ?

what I'm liking is the price . I was told around 25k with my 20% off discount . I'm a Member of an organization . I like that it's 2 years.

The other school which is in my state is online but I have to attend in person once a week for health assessment which isn't bad . However it's about 45-60 mins away depending on traffic time and where will be traffic because it's in the evening . That will be for 4 mths. I get anxiety driving on expressway at night . Especially in Winter I hate it . It's $5k more than Post .  So it's like I'm stuck now on what to do.  They have both synchronous and asynchronous class . I noticed that they require about 100 plus clinical hours more than Post . I don't know if it's a good or bad thing. I've also heard that sometimes it's hard to find preceptors when they find out one is attending all online . I don't know if it's true or not . It's. A big decision and I'm just feeling so stressed that I don't want to make wrong decision. Thanks . Any feedback is appreciated !

@StephaniefutureNP @SunshinePMHNP2026 hey I am looking to start this month. How do you like the programs? The assignments manageable with being able to work FT? I am hesitate if they will provide me all the resources I need to graduate etc. I have to keep working FT and being a single mom of 3. Youngest just turned 1 so I know I will be very busy trying balance everything. But I prefer 1 class at a time. Only thing I am worried about is my clinicals due to being accepted for the MSN to FNP. Was wondering if I she just find a school and do my innocent first but for the amount of money that it would take for me to do my MS and I'm not as well just do them combined. If you can share any information with me as far as Resources / books things like that to help you do the classes in the assignment I would greatly appreciated. I have a Facebook page if it's easier for us to connect and then I can also provide my email address. I'm just very nervous on if I should do the school or look at another school thank you all - email is [email protected]

I started this program and dropped when I became pregnant. I worked part time and had 1 other 5 year old. I dropped bc my little one demands my attention. Unless you have a strong support system like baby sitter and your job is lenient on schedule, you should not do it. There is no way you can work full time and have a 1 year old and do this program happily. You may be able to do it but the quality of you education won't be as good and you will be very very stressed out. I believed I could wait a few years until my youngest started school so that I can restart. This is my honest opinion based on my own experience. My coworker is older, has adult children and she had to work part time to be able to do the program. On top of that our job is very lenient.
