American River College Spring 2016

Hello! I have been looking for a thread for ARC for Spring 2016 and have yet to see one so decided to start one myself! Anyone applying for ARC's ADN program for Spring 2016 that want to share any questions or concerns while we wait for acceptance letters? This is my 5th time applying and am really hoping this is my lucky semester!

That's good to know! I hope the odds are in our favor this round, I've been waiting long enough lol

Oh yeah, the fact that this is your 5th try and you scored 80 points is really making me worried for myself!

I was checking out the previous semesters statistics and it fluctuates from 250 to almost 400, however, not all the applicants make it into the pool. My question, is there a benefit to submit an application even though the total points is

Well, I had asked this question at the info mtg and the response was that ppl with

Take for example the Spring 2015 app stats:

Even though 92 is a third of 277 qualified apps, 115 got placed in the pool because 23 more apps scored 70 points and were allowed to follow the one-third pool. If more apps scoring 60 and below came in, the one-third pool would increase. So if the total apps happens to be 415 (instead of 277) with more lower scoring apps, a third of that is 138, then the apps with 65 points would get in the pool. I think I did that right...

Okay that makes sense, thanks. I was also wondering if anybody here has applied to SCC for the nursing program and if so, how is the application process different from ARC?

All that being said, being in the pool is no guarantee of acceptance. We are still stuck with the luck game of 1:3 odds.

IMO, applicants who scored higher than 70 who didn't get picked and reapplying should get some kind of opportunity to increase their odds.

Hello everyone, this is my first time applying to ARC's nursing program. I dropped off my application just two days before the deadline and I was number 177.

RamanMarok, did you drop off app at beginning of day or end? I'm trying to gauge the number of apps for this round. If you're 177 on second to last day, I can't imagine there would be a flood of apps on the last day. So maybe we're looking at total apps in the low 200s. That means our odds are getting better.

I was the last person to drop off my application on August 23. The deadline was on August 25.

Dropped off my app 2 days before the deadline, #175. First time applying and I have 75 points. Eservices still not updated :(

RamanMarok, do you mean September 25?

I turned in my application on Monday, 9/21 in person. I had 95 points and my application status has not changed. I don't remember what number I was to turn in, but it was definitely during the last week.

Aliecakes, wow great job! With a score like that I hope you also applied to CSUS! At least over there, you will get in by merit and bypass on this lottery ridiculousness.
