American River College (ARC) ADN Spring 2019

Published

Hi everyone! My name is Christine. I have not found any post yet about the incoming application period for American River College ADN/ RN Program, so I decided to start one.

This is my first time applying at this school.

How about you guys? Is it your first time, as well? If not, how many times have you applied already?

I am going to apply next year at SCC and ARC for the second time. I got rejected at SCC on my first try. Hopefully this year or 2019 will be the year for me and all of us! :)

I just read that people won't be working this week... till Monday, so I'm gonna guess that we'll find out after thanksgiving since next week it's a 3 day week at ARC.

Maybe we can email them next week and ask if we should expect results that week? Mmm lol

I'm kind of thankful for the extra couple days of not checking like a crazy person. I'm hopeful they'll let us know next week!

Hey, I'm finishing up the program now, but in first semester, we had 53 students, so even though it says 40, it can potentially be more 😉

Hi, yes, all classes and clinicals were cancelled and college is closed until Monday due to poor air quality. A nice break from 4th semester craziness! í ½í¸‚

Congrats! Thats good to hear. Can you share a little bit about your schedule? what days and times did you have class and clinicals at first?

The class and clinical days for each semester are different, but class is one time a week for 4.5 hours and there are two clinical days, from about 6-3 day shift or evening shift from about 2-11. All the professor's are really good too. I loved the ARC program a lot.

those sounds like great hours. I got into delta and lecture is from 12 30 to 530 which is just awful hours.I'm really hoping I get into ARC... what are the usual lecture hours?

Lecture has varied, 10-2:30, 8-12:30, 12-4:30 and the days varied semester to semester. Each semester was different.

For exams do you just have to know what they covered in class or are you expected to read/know other material on your own?? It seems like you will have a lot of time to study, correct me if I'm wrong..what makes nursing school so hard??

Hi Alexj2018, There are several KSA's each week for different topics with learning objectives, and they cover the bare minimum in class. You are expected to self teach and study in order to keep up and pass tests, just as in any nursing program nationwide. There is a very steep learning curve and without putting in time at home to learn the material, it is impossible to pass the class. Having said that, I don't think nursing school is so hard that you have to cut everyone off and live in a hole. I have two kiddo's (one a toddler), and still manage to spend a lot of time with them during the week, as well as Saturday (the whole day) unless I have a test coming up. It works for me. I don't work, and people who work struggle more. It's just very time consuming in that there is so much going on at all times, and it's easy to drop the ball somewhere. I suggest being super organized and completing assignments early to stay sane :)

ARC is closed till Next Monday! :(

Closed all next week
