American River College (ARC) ADN Spring 2019

Published

Hi everyone! My name is Christine. I have not found any post yet about the incoming application period for American River College ADN/ RN Program, so I decided to start one.

This is my first time applying at this school.

How about you guys? Is it your first time, as well? If not, how many times have you applied already?

I am going to apply next year at SCC and ARC for the second time. I got rejected at SCC on my first try. Hopefully this year or 2019 will be the year for me and all of us! :)

How long has everyone been working on prereqs and applying?? With this semester I have complete all prereqs to apply to all local community colleges, has been 4 years part time working fulltime, 2nd time applying to ARC

I finished some prereqs in uni and the leftover ones at cc so it took about 5 years in total (+getting my CNA). I'm retaking chemistry atm so I can apply to some CSUs with hopefully a better chance, and maybe physiology next semester if I don't get in anywhere--knocking on wood!

This is my second time applying at ARC, third round for applying all together including Sierra and Sac City. I finished my pre-reqs I believe 2 years ago and took a few more classes to get an AA. It's taken me quite a long time...since starting in 2013 (yikes) but I was going part time and taking care of my twins. I am beyond ready and hoping to keep my motivation up through the application process!

10 years! But I got married and had a couple kids in between. Been going hard the last 3 years on prereqs, plus getting certified as a CNA while waiting another semester. I started applying to all 3 local CCs last year.

I feel better hahah I started the fall 2013 just taking one class/semester till my kids could go to preschool. So the last 2 years have been full time, but the rest was painfully slow to go through.

I've only applied once before at ARC and that's it.

This semester I applied to Delta and ARC and I'm currently doing the drug screening and all that to go to Delta, but I really want to stay at ARC for the sake of my family and getting help with the kids getting picked up or whatever, but I'll do my best to make Delta work if I have to... I just really don't want to because commuting and being an hour away from my kids is gonna be a nightmare. Just a few weeks ago my daughter had a bathroom accident at school and I was able to be there in 10 minutes... you know? but... lo que será será.

Also a part of me is hoping we hear from them this week... even though realistically i'm just expecting it to happen like next Wednesday.

For some reason I'm super optimistic, so i'll prob end up crying in the shower when I get my rejection email hahah...but seriously... I will.

I was so upset last semester after 3 rejections! I was in bed for a couple days. So anytime I get too optimistic, I shut myself down real quick. I'm making plans for next semester as far as classes towards my bachelors degree while I wait another application cycle. I'm not super hopeful since I have the same odds I had last semester, only I only applied to 1 school this time. So I'm hoping that the letdown won't be as bad this time.

I started my pre-reqs in fall 2016 at Sac State and finished them all there. This was my first semester of applying and I applied at Delta and ARC. I did get into Delta so I will be going there because I do not want to deal with the traffic that comes with ARC. Best of luck to everyone who is waiting to head back from ARC :)

I'm a little worried that they may take longer to let us know. The school sent an email that they may close temporarily due to air quality. They are gonna play it by ear.

Hi there guys,

I just found this thread. This is my second time applying to ARC and I was going to apply to SCC , but I noticed they changed the SOC class to the next class up. The only thing different about my application this time is that I applied as a veteran with having a medical job in the military. This option may propel you into the second semester, but who knows. Good luck to everyone. It also has taken me about 5 years to do all my prerequisites. I have been working full time as a medical assistant for the past 12 years and wanted to go to the next stage in my career. Anyone else want to tell about their story? Also my application says qualified.

Specializes in Emergency Department.

If your application says "qualified" then you're in the random selection pool. It doesn't mean you've been selected.

Something else to consider is that sometimes you might see 400 applications or 800 applications... you're going to be applying (and competing) against pretty much all the same people everywhere you apply. Every semester there's probably something like 130 or 150 seats in the Sacramento region so if the applicant pool is 400 or so and you're in that pool and you've applied to every school in the region (and keep applying if you're not selected), you actually have a decent chance of getting a seat somewhere. Don't forget that some students are selected at multiple schools so they have to choose... I landed a seat at two schools for the exact same semester. Some lucky student (likely an alternate) was given my seat at the school I turned down.

I just read that people won't be working this week... till Monday, so I'm gonna guess that we'll find out after thanksgiving since next week it's a 3 day week at ARC.
