Can anyone tell me what countries need american nurses and which are the easiest for English speaking nurses??

Thats what i said , it appears that in nursing it isn't but doctors under the GMC are exempt! Its not fair! And i agree with you!

Not just UK and Australia, Canada requires either English or French if applying for permanent residency and even provincial colleges require proof when applying for registration

I dont believe the UK requires ielts for english speaking, especially not americans, i have met quite a lot of american nurses here in the UK. but Australia does require IELTS for english speakers, which is crazy!

Also you could try the Republic of Ireland. I believe they take nurses outwith the EU. Good luck :)

Uh no, Ireland has the same requirements regarding employment, irish citizen, EU citizen, rest of the world.

The Republic of Ireland is not part of the UK, they have there own nursing council

In all honesty I think its terrible that they make english speaking countries sit this ielts test, however, how hard can it be if your first language is english?. I think its stupid to test this, but i dont think it would block a person from traveling to another country to work, i can imagine it would be annoying though.

Those in other countries which english is not their 1st language pass this test in abundance.

I dont know the ins and outs of this test nor what it entails , but I do know nurses from the UK that have moved to Australia and Canada.

They must of been tested too?

I remember when registering with the college of RN they had to ring me for something and because I was speaking to them okay I got away from providing proof of English otherwise I would have had to sit English exam. Only in last couple years has the government required English or French as part of the immigration process

The test needs a lot of practice!

Even for some native speakers. It is not difficult per se, either you speak the language or not, but it is tricky and exclusively about strategy.

I've seen people not being able to understand not to take a bottle of water in the room and then not understanding to leave her bag in the locker room and she passed. A British citizen (born and raised) took it the same day and she failed: go figure..

I am fluent in English so according to anybody I spoke to trying to get a job overseas I would pass with flying colors and I did... both times I had to take it. Why would you ask?

According to the U.S. I had passed on the first try ( with a TOEFL taken 4 yrs prior and passed without studying), but according to the UK,Aus,NZ and Canada I had failed by 0.5 in one of the 4 bands.

Took it again, studied the strategy with like 10 books for 1 month and then got way more than what the UK,Aus,NZ or Canada would require.

Strategy, strategy strategy and book early enough to be sure to give yourself time to study while getting the date that you want/need.

But I agree it is a ridiculous requirement...

They are definitely not open to Americans in the UK.
