I was noticing something tonight at work . . . .When I was doing my charting my hands were shaking so bad that I could hardly write. I have never ever noticed that before, and I am kind of worried. I wasn't too overwhelmed tonight, actually it was kind of nice! there was one point in time tonight when I had to deal with a very raunchy smell . . . .and ontop of that a psych resident that keeps her hands in her pants 98% of the day put her whole fist inside my mouth YUCK!!!!
I managed to vomit like 3 times tonight, but I dont think thats why my hands were shaking so bad.
Yesterday I was so overwhelmed and i did not shake at all. Keep in mind that I am 17 . . . and I'm not old enough to be shaking like that (lol),
I seriously do not know what is wrong with me, but I hear that that is what happens before a nervous breakdown. i dont want to have a nervous breakdown this young, but sometimes I feel like I could. Is this why I am shaking so bad???:imbar

Mandy, if you truly are just 17 then what the heck are you doing smoking and drinking alcohol? From reading earlier posts you seem to be a nice good hearted individual who will be a very good nurse one day....but if you seriously want to be in this profession, then start taking care of yourself RIGHT NOW (this is my MOM voice). Eat right, no drinkie, no cigs, and sleep enough. The symptoms you are having could be stress or might be something else. Tell your parents(if applicable) or go to the doctor immediately. You won't be of any use to your patients if you ar sick and not your best.
Good luck to you, and keep us informed.
When you begin to shake again, just think of a song you love, or put on some music, and start to move. Take the capacity of the energy bleeding from your nerves and manifest it in a unique body motion of your own. If your at work, and can't get down, try to walk a little or get up if you are sitting down.
Sometimes I twitch in my seat if i stay seated for too long. I envy the students who can sit still through an entire lecture like a sack of potatoes. I start to twitch if i am confined too. I usually sit on my hands to hide it. I quit chewing on my fingernails when I became a CNA. Washing your hands all the time took too much flavor away from a good fingernail chewing sesion, so I quit.
Let her drink and smoke if she wants to. (to h&^% with guilt)This is Captain America calling, saying we have all been under stress at one time or another, and kicking back and boozing is fine. If you are getting lit up during your working days, it will come out. ETOH excretion smell is registered
Ya know, when people take the time to post something that communicates that they care, then your responses should show the same concern for detail. Your response makes it look like your just getting material for a paper or something.
If you don't you'll miss alot of good input when you really need it because people will quit responding to you posts.
It doesn't have to be literary prose, but people around here expect you to give back what they put in.
Nah Peeps, we are all adults here and even adults can tell another adult to go easy. Also, you know when problem over-indulgence is the problem. Heh - even having a sence of humor is a good thing.
If I was with other nursing students, and we all were not taught to fear celebration, I'd like to drink a toast to the long hours of study this and next week. If you are caving under pressure, might as well burn up and out in style. ANd when we complete our tests, we can all raise a toast again and then begin to dance. (to Madonna)
If you have a condition of twitching brought on by a condition you need to have it checked and I encourage that. Hey, quit drinking now because it's too close to finals. I'm sorry if i sounded wreckless, I am, because I have one lst week before all the scan trons come out and scare me to death :-(

Hi there, just a student nurse here, but about seven months ago I noticed a tremor. It was one hand at first, then both. It would come and go sporadically. I was under tremendous pressure with family problems, so I thought it was stress, but I was worried. My grandmother had Parkinson's, so I really noticed it.
On my honeymoon, I took a horseback riding lesson. I hadn't ridden in over a year, and the instructor, when she heard I could ride, WORKED me to DEATH in 90 degree heat. When I finally got off the horse, I almost fell over from exhaustion, and I shook like a Leaf. I couldn't hold my bottled water straight. I was terrified. I thought I had Parkinsons. I thought I had MS, then ALS....all these things run through your mind.
I went straight to the doctor, who of course listened, then asked questions...when do the shakes occur? How long before them have I eaten? Consumed Caffeine? Stress? Extremely strenuous exercise?
Turns out, I am borderline Hypoglycemic. My diet was awful, I was stressed out, and I topped it off with a sudden workout my body was unfit for. I have started eating better, more often, taking a multivitamin with extra Vit. B, and cut back on caffeine. Now I only get the shakes when I skip a meal or am really stressed.
See a doctor, it's probably nothing...but make sure. It could by hypoglycemia, a vitamin deficiency, or a thyroid imbalance...all little things. Good luck!
