check into different schools, there is a school by me that does a rn-msn degree. you may be able to do it sooner than you think.
oh and I just started back to school in the fall of '06 and I am now 35 planning on going on for my masters.
Where do you live? See I live in Saint Louis so I odnt have to many options here....What are you getting your masters in?
Michigan, Wayne State has the program. I think I want to go for neo-natal NP. But I have to get throught the ADN first

I'm in St. Louis as well. You're 26? That is definitely not OLD! But I totally understand what you mean when you say you want to start a family before hand. Maybe once you get your RN you can take a year or two off before going back to get your Master's?? Not too sure if that would work out for you but who knows. Have you already started applying to various nursing schools in the St. Louis area? I'm starting at UMSL on May 12th in their accelerated nursing program...I hopefully will get through it! And if I do, I'll be 21 when I graduate....but I'm still thinking on waiting at least a year before I go back to get my MSN...however I want to go to become a Nurse Practitioner (so I haven't done much research on programs to become a CRNA) Maybe you should post this same question in the Missouri forum...you'll get more localized answers! Good luck on your search! :)

Okay....a couple of things here....first: you have LOTS of options here in St. Louis clear through to your MSN. YOU will be responsible for doing all you can to keep all those options open -- get good grades, get good job experience, etc. I am not familiar with all the options for obtaining your CRNA here locally, but there's always that option once you have your RN and some experience to move where the schools are for that option AND have a good job still making money.
Second: I'm 52 and just completing an ADN program. I know I will go on for my BSN; I am NOT too old for that. I will also consider going on for my MSN once I see where this career takes me and where my interests lay. With all the options there are in this field, age becomes a mind over matter situation until you physically break down....then there are other options besides working at the bedside.
Please don't limit yourself by your age. Have goals, but understand life sometimes has its own plan for us. Start down the path you are interested in and see where life, and love, takes you. Be open to the experiences and surprises that await you while moving toward your goal!!
I just feel like Im starting too late.. I guess alot of that is because all of my friends are buying houses married and all that and here i go just starting college just feel stupid i guess... thanks for all the responses.... so how old were all of you when you started?

I was 32 when I got my LVN(33 now) and hope to have BSN by 38. If eel that if you want something bad enough it is never to late to start. Think of the stability you will have and how well you will be able to provide for your future family.

You are DEFINITELY not too old! I'm 42 and I'm just entering the program to get my RN this fall. You are just a young thing! Go for it!

I am 32 and still doing pre reqs for the nursing program! I will be nearly 35 when I graduate, and that is IF I get in the first semester I apply. I guess it helps that I have alot of friends who are around my age doing the same thing. My only regret is that we are waiting to start our family until I graduate and the clock is ticking. But, we all make sacrifices. At 32 you could be doing the same thing you are now, or you could be working on your dream. The time will pass either way, it's what you do with it that counts.
