Am I kidding myself?

I was just accepted into an ADN program that will begin this fall, yay! That puts me at graduating in May 2015. I know it is a terrible time for new grads right now...am I crazy to think things are going to be any different when I graduate in two years? Reading all the posts of new grads struggling to find work is so depressing. What are your thoughts? Will things be any different in two years??

Scary, isn't it? I feel the same anxiety and also graduate in 2015.

So scary! And I am not picky either! I would love to work in a hospital, that is my ultimate goal, but I will work ANYWHERE that will take me! But it even seems that people that share my same attitude aren't having any luck either!!

Get your BSN. Then you'll be fine.

The nursing shortage has a lot to do with specific location/region. While it may be difficult for some nurses in a particular state to find a job, it may be much easier for you depending on your own location. According to a packet I received from my SON, we're facing a shortage of a million by 2020, so that's somewhat promising! :)

Well that is promising! I hope that is the case! There are so many new grads that need jobs!

Many jobs that are posted out here say BSN preferred but not required. So I am hoping on getting a job while I am working on my BSN.

That's my plan too. I also want to get a CNA job ASAP so I can start making connections.

Nurses that were about to retire are waiting a little longer for the economy to get better before retiring. The baby boomers are getting older and will need more medical help. Once those two things happen, the surplus will disappear.

Shhhh! No...there will be jobs, there will be jobs. Just keep repeating it. LOL
