Am I Geting dumber after surgery

Published

Ok this is going to sound odd but I had surgery in dec. And I was never ever a good speller at all Befor but ever sence I really cant spell I also have seem to forgotten where some states are and the abations for them as well . I had to ask what stAte ma was and where it was ? I also can not read as well I used to . Has anyone heard of this happening Befor ? Or am I going nuts

- - no one gets through school with spelling this poor, and why would someone capitalize a word in the middle of a sentence?

That one was my phone not me

Trekfan please forgive me if I seem like I'm snooping, but I took a look at some of your previous posts to see to what extent your spelling has degenerated. I agree, you need to have a complete medical work-up, not only to assess whether the anaesthetic might have affected you, but to monitor your existing conditions.

Please do not neglect this, it could be related to your diabetes.

Thanks for the addvice the good news is I think I found a new pcp that is not a dum--- . ( just saying really how do some People get there doctor thing ??? Forgot what it'called and not even know how lantus works ?? anyway I will call this new guy this week .

But you can understand why I am a little upset as you saw in my older post I want to go back to school to be a nurse or CDE but if I can not spell or read well this will be a problem on top of my vision .

:crying2:

Definitely get checked out!! I had a friend who is educated and came out of surgery in the same shape. they thought she had stroked on the table so she had MRI and found nothing. She has had to have speech therapy to help relearn somethings( speech and spelling) Her surgery was in Late November early December she is going back to work this month. Like the earlier poster said it can be caused by things during the surgery. I hope this new primary will listen to your concerns and you might suggest some of these potential tests, therapies.

You can always consult a neurologist if this persists/does not improve/gets worse/other symptoms occur.

I know people who say it took them a full 6 months or even 12 months to feel 100% after surgery. And that was not general anesthesia. It was local with standby or conscious sedation. No matter. Get a doctor to check you over.

You might even want to mention this to the anesthesiologist who did your case.

It was conscious sedation and general if needed I have no idea who the anesthesiologist was gess I could call just that a nurse came and put my out in the hallway they did it that way because I am light senative and she said the or would be to bright for me and they did not want to cover my eyes .

I was thinking get a head CT scan and MRI. You could have even had an allergic reaction to something, or a series of TIAs even. Definitely get a scan and CBC done though, & take it from there.

Hope you are OK.
