Hi everyone,
I guess I am in panic mode as my test date is nearing (2nd week of May). I am using Saunder's 4th edition and Prentice Hall along with their cds. Are the Kaplan Qbank and QTs necessary at this point? I did a few and my scores ranged from 58-67. I would like to cover all of my bases but after reading from both books and doing 400+ questions a day, I am mentally exhausted and hate the idea of adding another study tool. If you guys think it is truly beneficial, I will give it a shot. Thanks for your advice. Oh, and I am also doing old ATI assessments for content as well.

hey there..we have the same study plan.. i'm using saunders, prentice hall, & kaplan too. I used saunders to study all the contents & used prentice hall cd to answer 100-150 questions everyday (scoring 58-72).. i think prentice hall is a little bit difficult to answer than saunders, and is more like nclex question according to my friend. my kaplan QT scores 55-70.. my test will be next week...i feel i'm not yet ready & might postpone the test again..

I know what you mean. I don't think I will ever feel "ready" because I am paranoid that I will get questions in my weak areas! Good luck and let me know how it goes. Btw, how long have you been studying?
i've been studying for a 1.5 mons. but its only been 3 weeks of real studying (i mean studying straight 5-6hrs a day),,,how about u? 400 question/day? wow! i can only do a 100 and i get exhausted!

You're right. Nobody ever feels ready. Take a day to rest and relax, then go back to your work. Everything will be all right by the time you test. Good luck.
I have been studying for about 2 weeks, but I have not been consistent. Took a few days off here and there, but if I study it is usually for about 6-8 hours a day. As far as the questions, I read a chapter, like GI, in Saunders and Prentice Hall, and then I do the 200 questions on GI on the Saunders cd and the same for Prentice Hall. So I basically answer those 400 questions on the same topic. Talk about beating it to death! It helps me retain the info, though. I just hope I still remember it on exam day! Kaplan questions threw me for a loop, though. I don't even want to touch those...

Do you read the rational afterwords?
Yes, it often contains a more detailed explanation than the review book.

This is exactly what I am doing, I tend to study for 5 hrs but i have to take thousands of breaks I'm not the type that can just sit down and study 200 questions in an hr. Iv been doing saunders for the past month and i'm starting to memorize the answers, so i'm using KAPLAN but I live in canada so its an old book 2005-1006 there is no other study guides unless i order something but i write may 14th. I'm starting to become stressed out. I failed once before and my 2 other friends failed. Im already nurse here in Canada, and I feel so sorry for the americans who need this to work, its so hard!
I wanted to buy more kaplan study guides but its so expensive, but then again so is paying $300.00 everytime to write. I'm starting to feel dumb the more i study. The more I don't know. When I work in the real world, I def use more critical thinking then when I study!!!!

I think thats enough since you are doing alot of resources. I am on KAPLAN and thats it but sometimes i do read Saunders. They told me that STICK ON WHAT YOUR'E DOING so i am hooked into KAPLAN. Saunders gave me a good grasp of the nursing content but i haven't finished yet, questions are more objective type. KAPLAN on the other side helps me attack and elliminate answers. It helped me alot on answering question trainers.

I used Kaplan the first 2 times I took my boards and failed both times. This time I am trying the Saunders book, so far I really like it but we'll see in June if it really has helped me since that's when I take my boards again. I'm not doing more than 100 questions a day since that's what has been suggested numerous times to me from people who have passed their boards. The first time I took it I didn't study enough. The 2nd time I over did it and completely stressed myself out so I am hoping this time I'll do just the right amount and pass!!! Good luck to you!!!
