NCLEX study group in Edinburgh
I live in Canada and we have good schooling here, I wrote the nclex and failed the first time as so did more then 6 people I know! I wrote it the 2nd time and Passed! My advice while your waiting for your ATT study a couple hrs every day. This test finds your weakness and you cant go in thinking you don't really need to study its not like any other exam. I have been working almost 2 years as an RN, and this exam truthfully is not at entrance level. I bought the Saunders book and spent a month reading and understanding the material because really my anatomy course was in first year of university. The 2nd month I spent practicing questions and reading why the answers were wrong or right. I used kaplan, saunders and mosby for practice questions. good luck!

Canadian RN to Travel Nurse
Hello Everyone! I have been working for 2 years, 1 year oncology /medicine and 1 year cardiology/telemetry/medicine. I wrote my NCLEX to travel nurse in the USA but unfort. when I apply to a variety of agencies they tell me if I want to stay in cardiology specialty I need to have more then 2 years of experience due to the economy right now! I am so eager to travel right now! I was considering overseas to the UK. Can anyone give me some advice? Is there a hiring freeze there too? Its hard to get a job in Canada too right now, I want to move to a larger city to a more specialized unit but no one is hiring! Its crazy! I thought nurses would always be in DEMAND!!! I know you have to pass an english test before going through all the requirements to nurse in the UK. But is there a point to pay for all these requirements if I cant even get a job! The NCLEX wasn't cheap and it was so time consuming and now I cant even use it!!! Thank you!!!!!!!!! Leanne

Advice Canadian Travel Nurse - Work in the USA
Hello! So I passed my exam! I am trying to apply for different agencies. I have a year experience but for 6 months I worked on Oncology/Medical now I'm in cardiac care. Since I changed areas, I need a full year in cardiac care. Its hard to find out what travel agency is reliable. They say its slow right now for jobs and its competitive. Have you figured out anything yet!

Am I doing enough to prepare?
This is exactly what I am doing, I tend to study for 5 hrs but i have to take thousands of breaks I'm not the type that can just sit down and study 200 questions in an hr. Iv been doing saunders for the past month and i'm starting to memorize the answers, so i'm using KAPLAN but I live in canada so its an old book 2005-1006 there is no other study guides unless i order something but i write may 14th. I'm starting to become stressed out. I failed once before and my 2 other friends failed. Im already nurse here in Canada, and I feel so sorry for the americans who need this to work, its so hard! I wanted to buy more kaplan study guides but its so expensive, but then again so is paying $300.00 everytime to write. I'm starting to feel dumb the more i study. The more I don't know. When I work in the real world, I def use more critical thinking then when I study!!!!

Saunders Test...am I ready...pls. HELP.....
I failed and I was getting 70-80% on Saunders. I was also really tired for my exam and wasn't prepared mentally. But I have two friends who wrote the exam and they are good test takers and they also failed. I wrote 145 and they both wrote the whole exam. If it helps we are from Canada, I write in 2 weeks, and I'm using a variety of books and so far the KAPLAN questions I am doing horrible. Iv also been nursing for a year I graduated last year and have never failed anything in my life. I'm so nervous. I would recommend using a variety of sources saunders seams easier in my opinion. There is so much to know!

Advice Canadian Travel Nurse - Work in the USA
HEy! actually no i failed the exam. I studied lots of questions for about 2 months every day. the Day before the exam came and I freaked, I downloaded a bunch of hard questions from these websites and I had to drive 4 hours to duluth minnesota to write it, and I didn't relax, I went to bed late I could not sleep up all night, finally the clock said 3 am. i woke up early at 6 tried to have a good breakfast, then I went there for 630 I didn't even have to be at the exam place till 730, I studied some lab values the night before.. Not sure why I felt the needed to cram, I have never studied so much for an exam ever until this one. So as I was writing the exam, I was like oh my god, I need to finish this and go to sleep, I didn't even read the questions until I was passed 75 and i'm like ohh no what did i do, then i started getting the same similar questions twice around, it stopped at 152. I failed. But I rebooked for May 11th. MY Biggest advice Sleep and relax at least 2 days. So As for recruiters, I havnt looked yet I need to pass first, then i'll apply for a visa. Iv looked into a couple but my other friend failed the nclex too. I feel like this exam is a lost cause. I have even been working for a year. Good luck to you and message this forum and tell me how you did ! :)

Why are male nurses looked down on?
I look up to male nureses. They have such a different approach which is great. I actually hear some nureses complain male nureses are lazy. but these nureses complain about everyone! Thank goodness its a job that both parties can enjoy now adays!

I passed with 75 questions!
Hello I have a question. Iv been reading numerous posts. I am from canada and in school we had maybe a class approx 2 hrs that briefly mention Cardiac ECG strips.. whil I am studying I had a couple questions asking what the results are on the example strips shown. In Ontario anyways, if you work in Emerge ICU or Cardiology, you recieve an additional training to read these strips? How do I learn to read it, I write my nclex in 2 months. Anyone else from canadian university that wrote the NCLEX and found random information different??? thanks
