Hey y'all I was told to make a seperate forum for this so here goes..! Anyone applying or reapplying to the lvn that starts June next year?

I was in the ACC LVN program this year but sadly didn't make it to next semester so I believe ill be back in June. My math HESI was a 98 that is what Wallace ( the director) said last year was what majority of people she chose had.. High math score. I had like a 60 on anatomy HESI because I hadnt taken it by the time I took the HESI but my average was still an 88 on HESI.

I sadly didn't take anatomy prior and had to take it on top of the 4 Nursing classes in the Summer without a professor and it was BRUTAL. I was .5 points away in one class from passing but I aced the antomy class I spent all my time on.. If you havent taken anatomy TAKE IT NOW.! Hope we all make it there was 42 of us in the beginning.

I failed out of San Jac nursing program Fall 2020 and applying to Alvin LVN 2021. We should hear something in the next week or 2 for Alvin. I have a math score of an 80, but I completed AP 1&2.. my HESI score is 86-88% I brought scores in from 2 schools. Wow I can’t believe they have you taking four classes at 1 time. Are the Summer classes 10 weeks?

Yes you take fundamentals, medication administration, basic nursing skills ( 74.5), clinicals which since online were every other day tests and weekly quizzes. Then me and about 4 other had anatomy and physiology on top of that. And we started I believe June 02 and were done the first or second week of august.

Wow, I’m so afraid of failing out again. I am just ready to be a nurse already. What class did you have 74.5 in? What are the cons and pros of the program. I pray we both get accepted.

Basic nursing skills which is taught by the director. We were 100% online and that class is teaching alot of scenario and hands-on things so that really hurt alot. I bekive 15+ or so of us left that first semester. Plus I reccommend buying the NCLEX book because youll know tha answer, just not understand the method of questioning.

Pros are they are the highest rated NCLEX pass rate for a reason. Youll know your stuff. The teachers make sure tou understand something. Cons I say was the amount of software downloads and constant accusations of cheating due to it being online. ( I got in trouble once cause my glasses create a glare LOL ). Also the responsibility dynamic of students having reliable internet was in no way reciprocates with professors. Also they don't go over exams so you know what you get wrong. Towards the end so mamy people complained so they would each pick 5/60-100 questions to review so many students had to exchange numbers and groupmes so we can ask eachother for help.

How was san jacintos program?

During orientation for San Jac North LVN they said we would be on zoom learning, but that wasn’t the case. In Basic Nursing Skills she told us what chapter to read, and what to expect but never any lectures. It was evident that it was her first year teaching in addition to everything going on with covid. The test in BNS were tricky seemed like it was always two correct answers. The teacher had trouble teaching skills lab (not faulting her)students who had experience in the field would lead the skills lab. I really enjoyed Medication Administration, learned a lot I wish they would have introduced Heparin, Bolus material  etc. earlier that test brought students with A averages to a C. I always heard San Jac I had a good nursing program, but with Covid it brought on a lot of challenges for students and staff. I had the opportunity to go back to the nursing program on the 19th, but I want a fresh start elsewhere . Have you been studying? Let me know if you’re accepted.

Covod has hurt all of us let's just say that! Wow girl... I'm sorry you had that. I wouldve talked to the dean and thats what my Anatomy group did because we had an extra 5th class but no instructor. She started doing crosswords amd quizlets then everyone started getting 100s haha. But regardles bns is hard in itself but the teachers make the difference. I've been studying fundamentals I too loved med admin and the teacher for it is great. Hes kind and not a hard grader. I'll probably brush up on dosage calculations. And I bought books from students this fall semester who all said pharmacology was Summer times 5 so I've been looking at it just to brace myself. A colleague of mine makes amazing quizlets. I used hers to study with. Rgriffin0311

Thank you I just added her to my study set. Earlier you mentioned a book to study. Are you referring to the Saunders book? I heard it’s better to study the classes of drugs vs the individual medicines.

Yes that book. How they worded the question were similar in process to how this schools words theres. Having two right answers now that you mention it were also an issue. So she would italicize which is going to happen "first" or "immediately". Which is "most" probably. And I'm definitely trying my best. I got the email I was accepted last year the 3rd week of February. So we have about a month if thats the same. Best of luck to you we got this 2nd time around!

Has anyone heard anything or received their acceptance letter? I’m so nervous.

No nothing yet when I applied in 2019 they emailed me on Jan 31 around 10 am. This other applicant I spoke with yesterday said she hasn’t received anything either. I am very anxious as well, I keep checking my personal, school, and spam email. If you don’t mind me asking what is your HESI score, If y’all hear anything please let me know!
