Alvin Community College ADN Spring 2015

U.S.A. Texas

Starting a thread for people applying for Spring 2015 at Alvin Community College. Also wondering if anyone knows what counts as proof for Hepatitis B immunity?

I applied as well with a 3.9 gpa and 93 HESI.

I applied as well with GPA 3.4 and HESI 84 %.

Good luck for all of us.

Great scores houtxn...I would trade places with you anyday! lol ethiorn you are up there as well. I am a transfer student and many of the students I went to school with didn't have at least a 3.0 to apply for nursing school so 3.4 is very competitive. Have you all applied at any other schools or is Alvin your top pick?

Hi, FutureRN

Thanks for your encouragement. No this the only school that I applied so far.

I agree ethiorn. I am unsure as well. I took the HESI more than once so I have combined scores from 2 test so not sure how to figure out my overall score. All sections were 90's except two. I hope its competitive enough. @ FutureRN _2016 Im not sure what classes they'll use for overall gpa and electives but from what I calculated its a 3.7 with science pre-reqs and other classes like psych, english, etc.

I am really hoping to get in since Alvin is my top pick and only school I applied to. Another 4-6 weeks before those emails go out! :nailbiting:

@MissKal, The wait is the worst. I applied at other colleges with the earliest deadline being Aug 15th and I received a letter of consideration (not acceptance) but they requested that I go forth with getting my Blue Card. So I say all of this to say, keep your eyes and emails open cause you dont want to miss any little notification that can hold you up or miss you being considered. :)

Hi, FutureRN.

This is the my first time applying for the program. Thank you for the info. I will keep eye on my emails.

@Future_RN thank you for that info. I check my email daily, waiting to see about anything that comes from the school. What other programs did you apply for besides Alvin?

MissKal, I applied to Associates Progams at Lee College, Lonestar & Alvin Community College. I had just missed the deadlines for San Jac & Houston Community College.

Hey guys! I applied to Alvin's program last semester and ended on the waiting list. I was number 17 and ended number 2. Which I was fine with, I still needed microbiology and wanted to finish all my prereqs for the BSN program before I started my ADN. My HESI was only a 79 because of the Biology section, so I'm glad they dropped it this time around! I also applied at COM and got wait listed (#6). Alvin is my top choice. Last time, they sent out an email to confirm everything was received on the check list, so you should be on the lookout for that. The whole, "check your status" page is really just to check all your stuff is complete. You'll receive emails from them concerning your acceptance or wait list status.

Hi, derrick86

Welcome to this forum and thank you for sharing your experience. It means a lot for student like us and for the future students too.

This is my first time applying to nursing program and Alvin cc the only school that I applied so far.

I did many prerequisite courses not only for ADN also for BSN.

I took: English 1301 and 1302,Psychology 2301 and 2314, A and P 2401 & 2402, Gov 1&2,Pharmacology, Biol 1322 ( Nutrition ), Sociology 1301, Spch 1315

And I am currently taking some courses, so along with my GPA 3.4 and my hesi core 84% I am hoping to get in the program, If not I will keep pressing forward for this is not the end of the world, soon or later I will be in. For all of you out there, follow your dream and God will grant you in his due time. Remember, with God all things are possible!!! Don't discourage by any obstacle you might face in the way to become Register Nurse.

@FutureRN thats great! you have your bases covered at least. I wanted to apply to HCC and Lone Star but missed the deadlines. I know you will get into one of those programs for sure! @derrick86 thank you for that insight! I know you'll get in this time around! @ethiorn thanks for the words of encouragement! I think we all need to hear that and keep that in mind :) I will also keep applying for the next semester and different school until I am accepted somewhere and I have faith it'll happpen soon! Im really glad there is a site like this for students to interact.
