Alverno College Direct Entry into Nursing (DEMSN) 2022 Arizona

Hello!

Has anyone applied to the Mesa location DEMSN program with Alverno? Looks like a brand new program in AZ. I'm currently waiting to see if I got accepted, but wanted to see if anyone else has already gone through the process, learned of where clinical rotations in the program could be at, etc.

 

@kirstenbee I think it will be a very fast paced and demanding program. You get a BSN & MSN in 18 months! You cannot work while in the program (I was told you have to sign something saying you won’t work while in the program). 
 

This thread is for the new Mesa location. It starts in the fall. So no one has started there yet, but they have the program in Milwaukee, so look for threads on Alverno’s main campus.

Thank you, definitely helps! I have been researching so many programs and this one seems the most fitting for me at the moment. It does seem incredibly challenging but very much worth it in the end... I think I am going to apply for the Spring 2023 cohort in Mesa!

@kirstenbee how exciting!! That’s the cohort I’m applying to, too! I’ve already applied and I’m just waiting for one more transcript to arrive. I think it was lost in the mail. So I’m sending a new one. Hopefully I’ll know by mid May if I’m going to be given a conditional acceptance (I still have to do prerequisites).

@Rhiannon Solorzano Oh nice!! Good luck, I sure you will! I was debating applying for the Fall 2022 as I just need abnormal psychology complete. However, I think I want a bit of a break from school altogether before I dive in again. If I get in, I will definitely be thinking of this program as a bootcamp!! LOL

Thank you! I really hope I get in because it is probably the best fit for me of all the programs I’ve researched. There aren’t that many DEMSN programs to choose from and this one seems to have all I’m looking for so I really hope I can get started by Spring 2023. Fingers and toes crossed! 

A break sounds lovely. Wise choice.

Yes! I was told about Portage from my Alverno rep!

What cohort are you in?
 

I’m STILL waiting to find out if I’m in, because one of my transcripts was never received. I sent them again. And again. (Last one I personally mailed!) And I was told on Friday it was still NOT there. 
 

I was so upset. How could it not be getting there 3 times?! 
 

I insisted upon a PHYSICAL address to have UPS overnight the transcripts (the school I was getting the transcripts from is in the dark ages and doesn’t have email pdf options ??‍♀️).

When placing the overnight order, it flagged the address as problematic (zip). I called the school and long story short spoke with someone in admissions and she triple checked for me and sure enough they had ALL 3 copies!! All misfiled under my maiden name (which was in my application and the other 2 were under as well). 
 

So now my true wait begins. I just hope “my spot” isn’t gone now that it’s been so long. The first transcripts were sent in February. (The school I was sending them from takes forever to process and mail -about 3 weeks!)

But it is what it is and I will figure it out if I have to start late (all assuming I’ll be accepted! *fingers & toes crossed*)

I’ll be starting this fall! I think you will be fine I heard there are many spots open
