Alverno College Direct Entry into Nursing (DEMSN) 2022 Arizona

Updated:   Published

Hello!

Has anyone applied to the Mesa location DEMSN program with Alverno? Looks like a brand new program in AZ. I'm currently waiting to see if I got accepted, but wanted to see if anyone else has already gone through the process, learned of where clinical rotations in the program could be at, etc.

@Rhiannon Solorzano

yes, I seen that I was looking as well on that site I seen 2018 and 2019 and we are in 2022 also that 94% is including repeaters not only first timers,  so I’m worried for me especially since I have a learning disability. I don’t really know ,but many people in that nursing program on that Alverno have said there differences ,but I applied to other schools as well a d I’m going to see what the best option is for me.

@Rhiannon Solorzano

it’s okay I understand the typos.

@miracle93, the good news is that Alverno is around the same (or better) than all the rest of the schools there (all include repeat test takers).

I’m left wondering how any school could go from 94% pass rate or 91% (I saw that rate for them somewhere-I forget where) and an “A” grade on rncareers.org to “needs a 75% pass rate” to not lose accreditation.

The Mesa location is brand new & hasn’t even opened. They just secured accreditation in Arizona. Would they have been granted it if they’re about to lose it in Wisconsin?

I'm not asking you this, just sharing my thoughts/questions…

If anyone else sees this and has more insight, please let me know!

Alverno college supplies facebook group. There are many nursing students in that group thats currently in there programs and past graduates they will tell you as well. For many different students they all can’t just come up with the same idea. Some said the pandemic had to do with it and others said there were many big problems before the pandemic. Many websites that I have check through vary for the passing rate for this school. I just got an email from my advisor and said this “narrative grades- grades are all satisfactory vs unsatisfactory, and you’ll get written feedback from professors. If a school or employer does require a typical grading scale, our registrar can provide you with a grade point equivalency. which I remember you saying earlier.

@miracle93

I requested to join an Alverno facebook group.

I’m going to ask the advisor about the low passing rates.

Hey everyone,

I've applied for the school as well and I’m now worried LOL. I did find their 2020 pass rates which was 96%!
https://dsps.wi.gov/Pages/Professions/NursingSchools.aspx

has anyone gotten an acceptance yet?

@marcheken,

? Thanks for finding this! I’m so relieved! I don’t see how they can be in trouble if they had a 96% last year (from I understand it, the 2020 results are the ones taken last year ?? Or am I wrong?).

Again, I’m wondering how they went from 96% to under 75% in one year. Unless it was due to covid. ??‍♀️

My admissions advisor replied with this regarding my concerns about NCLEX pass rates: “Hi Rhiannon. We get our data from Mountain Measurement. The NCLEX information is only reported after the calendar year is complete, and it’s not separated out by program.  As a school our rate is between 94% and 96% verses the national average of 86%.  I can reach out to our faculty and see if there is a specific site other than the one I mentioned to gather their rates.”

Sorry I am new to this site and I am still trying to figure out how to work everything LOL. But yes! That is how I am understanding as well. We should be able to see 2021 passing rates this year! I check everyday to see if it’s been updated. I don’t think there is a better source than the State of Wisconsin ‘s board of nursing!

75% is really concerning. However, I am unable to find anything anywhere stating 75%.

I submitted my application about a week and a half ago and I am super excited, but of course I read things as well and I’m on edge LOL.

I also think there are always going to be good and bad reviews about any program.

@marcheken, I’m new to it all too. I’m planning to apply for the Spring 2023 cohort in Mesa. Are you applying for the fall 2022 one?

I’m currently in California and would be staying with family for the 18 months program (and going home any chance I can -it’s going to be the hardest 18 months of my life to be alway from my husband and kids -but getting my MSN in 18 months will be worth it!…I hope!).

Hello! I recently applied as well for the mesa term, has anyone heard anything in regards to acceptance?

I haven’t heard anything and I applied February 15th! I was told they were on Spring break last week! Hoping to hear back soon

Ah good to know, okay I applied just a few days after you! Hopefully we will hear something this week!
