I am so stressed out and it's only been 2 days of nursing school! We had a six and a half hour lecture today and got bombarded with information it's all like a foreign language to me, I have multiple assignments to do it just all seems impossible and this is my easiest semester...I'm just going to try and study one unit at a time but as of right now I don't even see how it's possible to retain all of this information let alone have time to do any of the reading assignments ect..I just need to stay positive but I can't even sleep because I am so nervous. The last thing I want to do is fail. I need study advice or something!! Sorry for rambling lol ?
My first day was Tuesday, and I let it overwhelm me.
I felt like there was absolutely no way I would be able to get all of the assigned reading done (and be able to read ahead!). I was actually bawling yesterday telling my husband that I'm going to fail out, that there's not enough time to get it all done, and for the hours I had already put in (6 - broke up - by that time) I couldn't retain anything.
He simply told me that I'm overwhelmed already. It'll get better once I get into the groove of things. Also, there is no way I'm going to retain any of the information if I'm stressing out about it.
I calmed down. I felt a little hopeless going to class last night. When I got to class, I heard everyone else echoing my thoughts. Knowing that others were feeling the exact same way actually made a difference. I walked out of class last night with a much different attitude.
Keep positive, take deep breaths, keep organized with good study habits.
I think when you figure out what kind of study habits work for you and a good schedule, that'll help!
I'm going to look at the info others have provided and hopefully that'll help.
Good luck!
I feel like the first week is the hardest. I'm in my 3rd week now and it's gotten a bit better. Just hang in there and take one day at a time. Don't kill yourself trying to do everything because you just can't. Take some time for yourself even if it's just 10 mins, it will save your sanity!

I'm at the end of my second week. It is very overwhelming. But you have to learn to organize yourself. If you can't organize and prioritize, you will feel this way the entire way through. This is how I do it. I have 14 hours of lecture on Tuesday and Wednesdays. I pay attention and take notes. That is all I do. I complete any assignments they give us at night. Let's face it, we still all have lives outside of nursing school and I'm sure you have other stuff to do. Thursday I am off. I spend the day going over what needs to be done for my 8 hour lab on Friday. I make sure I perform the check offs properly and know my terms. I take the online quiz that needs to be done each week and just make sure I am proficient for the check off. I watch the videos also for lab the next day so I am ready. I also do some stuff that needs to be done around the house. I have lab all day Friday. Saturday is my decompress day. I do nothing having to do with nursing school on this day. Sunday and Monday I study for my test on Tuesday and get all of my ATI questions done. ATI helps me for my test on Tuesday. Monday night I get anything together that I need for lecture the next two days and briefly look at stuff for the upcoming week. This has kept me organized so far. Just look at your schedule and see how you can organize your days and try to stick with it. You will get there.
