allnurses Positive Thread

Nurses General Nursing

It seems that some threads here on allnurses get a lot of attention tend to being  negative, whether they be about professional or personality problems.

So, hey- this thread is aimed at the positive attributes of the allnurses' website, anything past or present.

I have oft stated that allnurses is my favorite website and one of the reasons is that it that's because it focuses on the career of my calling, which was nursing. In being associated with allnurses for over a decade, I have felt closeness, camaraderie, and a kind of kinship with my virtual colleagues. I have learned lots of techy stuff and have been exposed to alternative viewpoints the like I had not previously considered.

allnurses also allows me to communicate and express myself in a way that utilizes my bliss, which is art. Loading up images has much improved since the upgrade of December '19. Before the upgrade, if I noticed a typo or an area on which I wanted to improve on an uploaded image, I'd have to ask a mod or administrator to delete the old image and upload the edited one. sirI, among others, were always amicable in performing this task for me

Since the upgrade, I can now delete the old image and load up an edited one all. by. myself!

And even when I was working full time at Rightway (I want to stay positive!) Regional Medical Center, I visited allnurses at least once daily.

Soooooo.... what do you think are some of the positive attributes of the allnurses' website- anything past or present?

I think we need a 'Hall of Fame'! Can't be more positive than that!

Esme would be at the top for a posthumous Emeritus award.

A Hall of Fame for those who are gone now, and once touched our lives, is a endearing idea, amoLucia.

Two of the hospitals I worked at had portraits of some of the employees who once worked there, and were no longer with us, hanging in certain hallways.

It was nice to pass by the portraits, see some I once knew, as a memorial, in a place of honor.

I visited a NH once where there had a 'memory monument' for recently expired residents. Nice photos/pix with names and short brief biography was posted also. It was mounted behind a wall glass case in a pleasant corner of the main lobby. There was some table with flowers and it was all very tastefully done and maintained by the Soc Dir/Act Dir. Pix would be changed after a few months. It was nice for staff, family and visitors who knew the residents. A few other residents could remember but that was briefly.

I always thought it was a gracious gesture.

Yeah...

We could have something like their avatar, and maybe like a Greatest Hits of Postings.

You mentioned something...

As I've commented, there are quite a few other posters here who provide great info when requested. Kinda like the late Esme, a doyenne extraordinaire, with her nsg dx explanations.

Some posts which exemplified their character, their qualities.

Well, everything starts with an idea, you know, and a good idea this one is!

Esme was a long time contributor to ALLNURSES. She was kind, generous and tactful in her advice and counsel, had a crazy funny streak, loved her family and her dog. She was sick for a long time and passed away in June of 2020. She is sorely missed.

Gotta go wipe a tear now.

Hppy

PS as a dedicated Twihard I will state that Esme the vampire was pretty cool.

We must remember to appreciate those who are here why we still can, and be sure they know that they are  appreciated.

I was not in a very goods pace this morning and as the song goes, "What I've got they used to call the blues. Nothin' is really wrong. Feelin' like I don't belong."

So I followed my program, utilizing spiritual and artistic endeavors to help deal with my discomfort; read a little of Gibran's The Prophet, dida short workout, and played around with art techniques.

I'm working on a technique I've termed as Bleedthrough. Basically, I use alcohol based pens, drawn on one side of the paper, then turn it over to work with the opposite side.

I've gotten pretty good at lettering in a mirror image so that the opposite side of the paper readable.

This morning, I was playing with this:

I used a yellow highlighter to go over the red lettered ink and saw the red bleedthrough in yellow and thought of hematuria.

Well, hematuria caused me to think of my older Brother's first symptom of his terminal prostate cancer experienced when he was 61 years old which made me think of my little Sister who died last year at that age.

ARRRGH! " My biorhythms are off! I must be on my period!" I said.

So I drew me on a period:

Well, what if I were on some other punctuation mark?

Or if I had other trouble with my punctuation mark?

Or even a full colon blockage?

With that, I brought myself out of my dumpy mood, looked forward to sharing my art with my allnurses friends, and will now go out to breathe in the fresh air of freedom from a funk!
