Allina System question

U.S.A. Minnesota

Published

Hi everyone,

Does anyone know the minimum hours you have to work in order to still qualify for benefits? Thanks in advance for any feedback!

Specializes in LTC, med/surg, oncology, cardiac.

lol....I applied at United. I think it was two positions back in 2005 or 2006, and I got letters back then saying the positions were filled. Can't get them all I guess. I also commute from WI, so Coon Rapids etc is too far for me to drive to. St Paul would be the best and Minneapolis would be pusing it.

Have you looked into HealthEast Care System?

St. Joseph's Hospital (downtown St. Paul) has been mentioned, but have you thought about St. John's Hosptial (Maplewood), Woodwinds Health Campus (Woodbury) or even Bethesda Hospital (St. Paul). All these are located on the metro's east side and are relatively close to Wisconsin.

I thought about Bethesda Hospital. I've worked before at Woodwinds, BUT their aroma therapy drove me nutts. Actually, it made me faint so I couldn't continue working there. I had some type of vagus nerve stimulation problem. Maplewood is 38 miles from my home. I heard both St Johns/Joes will eventually be going to the same atmosphere as Woodwinds and getting the aromatherapy stuff too. Since hearing that I have avoided applying to either one of those locations. They wanted to transfer me to one of those hospitals, but I declined due to that. Their charting is AWFUL too! hee hee

Still kind of waiting though to figure out where the hubby will land a permanent job, and see if we are able to sell the house. Then I will look more actively!

Even Lakeview Hospital in Stillwater has updated and included a heart center.

Lakeview I heard is a great place to work. I think you can tell by their not many job postings for RN's that that is probably the case. They don't have much out there right now for jobs other than evenings, and that shift doesn't work for me. Only nights/days. Never see your family working evenings. Then again I need at least a .8, and they have a .4 nights avail, but that is all.

When I worked in the clinic before the hosp/clinic merge the clinic was unionized. How about casual? When I first worked there, there was not any ads, yet when I went inside and asked for appl., they had a list of jobs available.

Curve Crest Clinic is an umbrella clinic under Stillwater Medical Group. I know they hire RN's for several area's and do many OB/GYN procedures there. (actually OB/GYN stayed at the Greeley clinic site attached to the hospital and I think Peds is there too).

I hear ya about the family time, but you might be surprised. I was hired on the spot.

Good Luck!

Anybody know how much benefits are for medical/family with a union position (on average) through Allina? I know it may vary some. :balloons:

Have you thought about a position with the state in corrections or with DHS? Family benefits are about 120/month pretax.....

Worked in corrections in MN and was promised .6 days and .4 evenings prior to starting. Well, after they got you in the door and trained me my scheduled looked more like .8 evenings. Spoke with the supervisor and was told, "Can't promise you that always." Well, I can't work all of those evenings and miss out on my family either. :o I didn't think that was right, but oh well! The state has great benefits, but not if you want to be home with your family unless you get a day job or days/nights. Now, I won't even look at an evening job. I did get a call for an interview for one of the hospitals in the cities, we will see how it goes.

Good luck on your interview FreezebabyRN!! I work in an Allina hospital and MNA health insurance runs for me $180/pay period for family.

Is that the dues for union and insurance together approx? I can't remember what I paid before for the MNA...been awhile. ;) My interview is next week...we will see. I'm not a fan of interviews, but we all have to go through them to get in somewhere!

Thanks a bunch!

Freezebaby - that's just health insurance. Dues are $58/month
