Allina System question

Hi, I work for Allina and I believe that the minimum is 0.4 which would be 32 hours in a pay period. I am 99% sure, but I will check at work this week and will let you know by the end of the week, OK? Are you planning on applying? I have had a really good experience with Allina, I think they do a very good job of taking care of their nurses. Of course, there are strong and weak managers on the direct management level, but for the most part it is a good environment. Good luck with your application if you end up going for it!!

I am considering going to nursing school in the future and I'm the type of person that does tons of research first so that's why I have been posting questions. :) Thank you for checking on that for me. So, that would be 16 hours a week, right? When I do finish school, I would most likely apply at Mercy or Unity since they are the closest to my house. Do you know if they hire new grads on a part time basis (24 hours a week) in L&D? Thanks for your help...I greatly appreciate it!

Currently, your chances of finding a job in a specialized area (L&D) as a new grad, especially on a part-time basis are pretty poor. I would plan on .8 to full time for the first year or so, and possibly consider the need to start out on a more generalized med-surg floor.

Keep in mind, though, that your experience (and anyone else's) may be different than mine. I currently am an RN-ADN new grad with over 15 years of experience in the dental assisting field and cannot get even a call back from one of the bigger hospital congolmerates. (I am presuming because of new grad status and two year degree, as references and GPA, etc. are impeccable.)

Sometimes it helps to have someone from the inside give HR a heads up on a great prospect. (I don't know why HR can be so freakin slow sometimes!!) But if you would like to PM me or email me, I would be glad to give HR a call and see if it might speed things up. All I can do is get you in the door quicker (hopefully), the rest will be up to you.

I work for United, but would call Unity and Mercy's HR if you would like.

I work for Allina in New Ulm..and not sure minimum for benifits- but I know they have different benefits for different contracts.

(BTW- I love working for allina...I believe each nurse manager is responsible for hiring..so new grad hires really depend on the facility...ours hires ALOT of new grads.)

Sorry about that. I agree Allina is good to their employees and the only downside I felt was a few managers, but that's long ago at this point.

Don't even bother with Allina's HR department - they rarely, if ever, get back to you, and they DON'T return phone calls (they state so on their recording). If you truly want to get into Allina, find out who the nurse manager of the department you're interested is, and contact them. If they have some interest, they'll speak with you. That's how I got my offer from them (which I declined, for a number of reasons, but I'd work for them in the future). Good luck!

Thanks! I'll keep that in mind for the future. I was very disappointed/frustrated w/ their lack of response, but have already accepted a position @ North. I appreciate the input, though!

MNmom3boys,: I was answering to post # 6.. I loved working for Allina,but as mentioned some of the managers were out in space IMO. But as for the company I was never treated better than at Allina.

I did research work at Unity and received full medical clearance so I could do much job better efficiantly. Great experience.

I got my job through their online application process. They called and set up an interview for the next day. With the online..they will contact about any job within the company if you're interested. Someone else from my clinicals..got bypassed from contacting the nurse manager. They ahd already filled the position she applied for....and even though their were other positions within the facility...only one manager had her resume.
