All FSCJ Spring 2013 Hopefuls

Published

Hi everyone! I decided to start this thread in hopes of seeing if there is anyone excited about applying to the fscj RN program spring 2013. I am currently taking a microbiology class this summer. I would have applied for fall 2012 but met with some technical difficulties. I have 206 in total points w/o micro. Let's stay in touch and keep this ball rolling!

I sure hope it's good enough!!

Does anyone know what the Day schedule is like VS the N/W one? I remember seeing a post about it when I was reading through all the entries but I don't remember where it was. Just trying to figure out if i'll be able to swing working full time & going to school. Thanks!

Copied everything off other posts:Day schedule:M-testT- classes from 9am-4pm (break in between)W-7am-2:30pm (clinical also included, I think, but i'm not sure how it goes yet)Th-1-4pm classNote: All day programs are similar the only thing different is the clinical and one online class, which are being offered to only several sections to choose from. I hope this help you a bit night/weekend program. Monday: TEST 6-7:30Thursday: CLASS 6-9Friday: (about 1/2 way through the 1st semester, we will start clinicals at the hospital, and on Friday at some point during the day, we will have to go to the hospital and get patient info to write a care plan that night that will be used the next day....I'm pretty sure that's how it will go, at least)Saturday: CLASS/CLINICAL (class the 1st 1/2 of the semester, clinical the rest....once again....I think) 7-2:30Sunday: CLASS 9-4From what I saw on the day program (there were 12 different sections to choose from, but only 12 people per section)....the class and clinical times were quite varied. The night program seems to be a more steady approach if, let's say, you work full time during the day (which I do, unfortunately), or if you have kids and no day care.

thank you so much!! This is very helpful!

The deadline is not even here and I am already tired of waiting. Anyone else feel that way? I looked at previous posts and the last Spring group didn't get their acceptance letters until a week or two into December. The Spring group before that I think got it right after Thanksgiving.

YES! So tired of waiting already lol hopefully we'll get letters in November, I'm anxious enough without waiting till Christmas.

Does anyone know where I can get my CPR done? Please help!

there are lots of places you can do this. read earlier posts there was someone talking about this. Or you can just take it at FSCJ go to connections, my classes tab, search and register for class HED0300 it is taught at north campus, the instructor is very good, right now they have several spots available. You get your BLS/CPR card same day, valid 2 years.

Does anyone know when they changed this CPR certification thing? I spoke to an advisor before submitting my application and they told me that it wasn't required...Now I am freaking out after reading all these posts. I need to take the CPR class now, and now I am wondering if I can turn in my CPR certificate, even though I have already submitted my application??? Ahhh help!!! Where can I take a class now..?

There's a disconnect between what the advisors think and what the nursing committee says. If you go to North Campus and talk to someone in the nursing office, they'll tell you that it's required to apply now. They even removed the line on the application where it says "not required to apply" on the new applications that they have at the front desk.

If you've already submitted the application, just can just go back up there and submit a copy of your CPR certification and they will add it to your application.

You can go to the American Heart Association's web site to find a listing of BLS for Healthcare Providers courses that are available. Also, make sure you call the instructor and ask if they print out your certification once the class is over, so that you won't have to wait.

I really wish they wouldn't take so long. I was reading one of the Summer or Fall Hopeful threads from either this year or last year (can't remember which) and they got their acceptance letters after 4 weeks. But it seems like of all the past Spring Hopeful threads I've read, all of them got them after the full 8 weeks. GRRRR.
