AIr force reserve rank

Published

Can someone shed some light on a subject for me? According to the packet being prepared by my recruiter, I would be at 0-4. (I have been a nurse a LONG! time). However, I don't read about anyone entering on these boards as anything but an 0-1 or 0-2. Does the selection board put all reserve nurses in at this level?

Thanks!

Just jumping in here! I got a call from my recruiter today, I was supposed to be at my first drill this coming weekend due to the fact that I swore in on Jan 9th 2010. However, AFRC would not issue my gaining to the unit because they say My rank that I swore in at was incorrect, they said that I was supposed to come in as an O2 not O3. I have had my RN license for 16 yrs, but have 14 1/2 yrs actual nursing exp. due to the fact that I was a Nursing Home Admin for 1 1/2 yrs! Something does not sound right here! My recruiter states that she is going to fix form 24 and resend it, then I will take my oath again! Talk about frustrating! Does anybody know anything about this? Any input would be appreciated!

Assuming that the regs haven't changed you should be an O-3 with 11.5yrs towards rank. You should also be up for Major during the next majors board.

Ask your recruiter to give you the reg.

Thank You! I will ask her for the reg, I was just sick over it today, especially when I had already sworn in in Jan. and now I guess it is null and void, until the "Administrative Error" is corrected.

I was just looking over the Computation for Grade Determination. It looks like they are discounting my Long Term Care experience. I was DON and ADON which including several aspects of clinical nursing, Including working nursing shifts to avoid using agency, as well as discounting 3 mos exp. at Vencor hosp. which leaves me with 7 yrs exp. Should that affect my Rank Calculation?

Yes, it could and you might have to fight for it. It is hard to say without the full reg.

I am applying for CRNA Army reserve. The way rank is done for CRNA is quite unfair. I have been an RN for 14 years; however, the army only applies CRNA experience towards constructive credit. I have been a CRNA for 6.75 years. For Captain you need 7 years exp, so they are telling me 1LT. If i went in as a regular RN i would come in as a Captain. This doesn't make any sense especially since i have a Masters Degree, but then again many things that the government does doesn't make any sense. Anyways, i am thinking of just waiting a few more months. It has been a very lengthy (6 months)and comical experience of resubmitting forms, letters, malpractice info, waivers, and am still not done.

I also hear from multiple recruiters that they aren't recruiting nurses this fiscal year and that they are full after only 3 months. The new fiscal year starts OCT so if anyone is interested in joining start getting all the papers together now as it is a long process.

The Army is extremely short on CRNAs and I don't think the quota on nurses has anything to do with CRNAs. You should look into the USAF and Navy reserves/NG. I am not quite sure what the Army's thinking is behind doing CRNA constructive credit this way.

I believe working in long term care along with a couple of other areas are not counted towards contructive credit.

Considering the fact that I have already sworn in and signed my contract with the Air Force, wouldn't this be a breech of contract? I have left a message with the Chief of all the Healthcare Reserve Recruiters, he has not returned my call as of yet, he's probably out of town, knowing my luck. My question is, who is next on the list for me to contact, I don't want to skip over someone, but I intend to elevate this because I am extremely tired feeling like I am being jerked around.

If you signed an AF contract stating that you were coming in as a Captain and now someone is trying to revoke it that sounds like a breech of contract on the AFs part. I personally wouldn't accept different contract that had me coming in as a 1Lt.

So who do I need to contact? Or do I say something to my recruiter?

Just tell your recruiter...things will probably start happening real quick..lol When the command might lose a recruit they have already counting on their books you should start getting answers a lot quicker.
