I haven't given up and will not give up, but my nursing journey thus far has been ridiculous! I went to nursing school specifically for neonatal intensive care and have worked in every area of nursing and know that NICU is where I belong. When I worked in the NICU, I loved going to work, I enjoyed my job and am very passionate about it. I just happened to work in the wrong NICU with the wrong management, in the wrong hospital, in the wrong city. I was hosed by that place and have been unable to gain employment in another NICU in this part of the state and I didn't do anything wrong to deserve being treated the way I have been treated. After this horrible experience, I decided that I was going to go back into the military (preferably Air Force) and serve as a nurse for our soldiers babies. And yet, after 2 years, I am still waiting for acceptance and still can't get a job as a NICU nurse in either the civilian side or Air Force side. I've been ready to start my career since before I became a nurse, but feel I am losing all of my hope. I will keep trying of course, and I am still hoping that something good will happen for my family and I soon. I am sick of waiting and being turned down. thanks for the encouragement, I need a miracle!

Rnpic, you are a strong and very determined person. Sometimes, things does not happen when we want them to but it always happens at the right time. You have come a far way on your journey as a nurse and I know when given a chance, you will be an EXCELLENT Nurse. I have faith that things will work in your favor.

rnpic, i will encourage you and say this. You fight is so great because you hold greatness within you. I'm sure you are an excellent nurse and i can identify with you on how you feel when it comes to work and all the aspects you have been experiencing. I havent heard from my recruiter, i have not been given a date for interview or physical and everything is to be completed by jan 2 is what i was told. but i will keep fighting, reapplying and what ever else i have to do. i encourage you to do the same. thank you for sharing your journey as well.

I was told by the head of the IL medical recruiter branch that MEPS is good for 2 years. The only thing I have to refill out is the dated paperwork, and that is only signatures.

Of course my letters of recommendation were obtained in September.

Hi all,

I had to take a week off so I could finish my last BSN paper:) I will graduate Dec 18th. I did not get in this time around either. Did anyone think of the Air Force reserves??? I am going to call tomorrow and talk to them. If my package is done, but denied x 1 try. Why would the reserves not look at it?? Am I crazy? Anyone here have any insight to this? I really wanted to serve my country before I was too old to do it!

I was told by IL MEPS that the physical is only good for 1 year. I don't see why/how it would/could be good for 2 years. As for the letters of recommendation, I have done these twice already: Oct/Nov 2009 and then again May/June 2010. So, I will have to get new letters for re-submission. Then, I was also told that you can only re-submit every 6 months (this coming from the MI Healthcare Recruiter's office, I do not trust Chicago IL office).

Well, my packet is in again in with my MEPS being 11/2009. I would imagine he wouldn't submit it with missing info right off the bat.

Does anyone have anymore info regarding the alternate status and when is the next board suppose to be?

I was told the next board is Oct '11

I just received my new application for the January 2011 board...It better not be in October, or this will be a rough lie to keep covered up.

I hope the next board isnt in October.... My recruiter said the next board is sometime in March.. I guess all of our recruiter has different days of when boards are).

Anderm, since your moving up on the list, does that mean everyone whos an alternate moved up one step closer to becoming an actual select?

That's how I understood it that everyone moved up one on the list. I'm still confused cause someone else said they were #2 on the ER list. Are there different lists for different specialties? And I keep hearing different board dates too. My recruitor says Oct and i've heard others say there is a new grad board this spring, some say there won't be one at all in '11 because there aren't any jobs, some say there are still 2.....who knows
