Not sure if someone has started a thread for this Class. If there is one already, please send me a link for it. I thought we should have a threat to prepare people who made it to this class. Any input from the other guys that we started this long journey with would be appreciated. Thank you.

Went to Maxwell today to be sworn in. The ceremony went well but will have to go back to buy stuff. Talked to an enlisted soldier that I know, I asked him what he thinks about officers that become one like me...he said he thinks most of us are F.o.S! hahaha He is a friend, so he meant that on friendly terms. Said I would be respected if I know how to treat them with respect. I really do hope that the 5 wks are enough!

I just found this thread... I'm also going to COT in Aug. After COT I will be stationed in Landstuhl, Germany. It's pretty exciting.

I'm waiting for the last of my background check to come back so I can schedule my swearing in. It almost doesn't seem real.

Congratulations!

I found this link that has really good prep for P.T for pre AF Boot Camp. This is for those that might need a plan/layout of how to workout. You might alter some of the steps.

If I could add my 2 cents here. Make sure you come to COT ready to pass the PT test. For the Air Force, COT is maybe 90% academic and 10% physical. You are compressing the academics of a 12 week basic officer training course into a 5 week course; you even take the same tests as the 12 week course. In my experience (just finishing COT this week), you get maybe 30-45 min of physical activity a day; the rest is marching (20%) and death by powerpoint (70%). COT really isn't designed to push you physically, and therefore you will be way behind the 8 ball when you get to your base to take the official PT test if you weren't already fit.

jfratian,

Thanks for the advice. I'm really glad you shared that because I was wondering how much conditioning we will be doing at COT. I'm currently working on improving my PT Test score being someone who has never been a runner per se. I currently run 2-3 miles 5 days a week at a 9 min pace. I do notice regression when I had previously taken a week or two off. Did you find yourself (or any others) working out extra on the weekend just to maintain? Or did that not seem to be a concern?

Again, thanks for the insight and congratulations on making it through!

I personally feel that I'm about where I was prior to coming to COT. I did additionally work out Saturdays at COT. I scored in the mid 90s out of 100 for each of the 3 PT tests.

It's enough physical activity to keep you healthy, but don't expect to improve much. You do PT every weekday, except during the 1st week (which has a bunch mind-numbing in-processing briefs).
