Air force nursing cot august 2014

Not sure if someone has started a thread for this Class. If there is one already, please send me a link for it. I thought we should have a threat to prepare people who made it to this class. Any input from the other guys that we started this long journey with would be appreciated. Thank you.

Clean your mailbox :-) No I haven't registered for my ADLS yet. I seen it on the inbound COT trainees website but I plan on asking the recruiter when it can be completed.

You are welcome...Carolinapooh has so much to offer. I read some of her postings here and they are great. Dreamning too has great stuff to say regarding stuff we need to know. I am glad these guys made it before me...less anxiety and better preparation.

I agree! I have been reading both of their posts and they are awesome for taking the time to help prepare the newly selected! Tons of very useful information. I'm nervous but not as nervous as I use to be.

Just an FYI on the required information assurance training that is required…they will be updating the website to not make it a requirement because you need a CAC card to access it. My class mentioned it at the final feedback so the staff said they will fix it.

The internet is almost nonexistent and everything you do will require internet so I would recommend bringing a hotspot/mifi of some sort. The staff is aware but apparently it has been like that for previous COT classes.

If anyone is planning to make a trip to Maxwell for shopping please let me know. Does anyone know if the military pay differs with the size of the family or if a state has income tax or not?

I plan on going to Seymour Johnson AFB to look at uniforms in the coming months. From past experience when my husband was active duty, the pay is the same for the member but BAH is slightly higher for those with dependents. And depending what state is your home of record will affect your tax status, whether you pay state taxes or not I mean.

You can look at your monthly pay here: Pay Tables

Also, a BAH calculator: BAH Calculator

And finally, BAS: Basic Allowance for Subsistence (BAS)

If you add all those together (base pay, BAH, and BAS), those are your entitlements for one month. People with family members (dependents) get a higher rate of BAH, but it doesn't matter if you have one family member or 10, the rate is either with dependents or without dependents.
