Air Force Nursing Boards 2011

Published

Has anybody heard anything about nursing boards for 2011? Last I have heard is that they are looking at a late July/early August board.

Also, how are the November 2010 AF board people doing? Has anybody been picked up? If not when are you looking at re-applying again?

"I was led to believe by my recruiter that only RN experience and hospital experience counts. I will check again."

Hospital experience counts if you are trying to apply to a specific specialty area, but all of your combined experience as a nurse counts. Not being rude but as an FYI, you can't always believe word for word everything your recruiter tells you. If you were to ask a handful of recruiters, you would get a different answer from every one of them. This is coming from someone with prior military service.

I would really appreciate it! The recruiter out here is never available. I must of tried 5 times. I need to know if I should be looking for a new job or not. I would just like to add that I would take any position in the air force as a nurse including the clinic. I love being a nurse and have always wanted to be in the air force.

If the recruiter is never available, try to speak with someone else within that office. If they can't help, find another recruiter. If this is something that you really want to do, you can't sit back and wait for it to happen or wait for them to contact you. There are timelines of when and how things need to be done. You are responsible for staying on top of it and getting the things that need to be done, done. Keep on them. If they aren't there to help you do this, you may have to find someone else. The recruiting office that I am working with now is awesome. They all work together to get things done and I have stayed on top of them through the whole process, and this office is a few states away from my home state. My home state recruiter was not helping mr get anywhere.

I'm in Phoenix, Arizona. Have any suggestions? I called and they never returned my phone call. I stopped by and the healthcare recruiter is never there.

1. Must be RN experience, LPN experience does not count.

2. Must be acute-care experience.

3. 6 months acute care experience to be considered fully qualified.

Try calling the office, if possible talk to the operator or the flight commander.

Hope this helps

If it is still TSgt Freeman in Phoenix.... you need to stay on him. He covers from San Diego all the way to FLagstaff and to El Paso. He travels alot. I showed up at my first appt with him with copies of my license, my certs, my ACLS, my diplomas, my birth certificate. He knew I was serious and meant business and wouldn't be a waste of his time. I met with him July 09, went to COT May 10.

Good luck!

I finish my FNP program in August this year. Not exactly sure when I'm going to COT after I take my board exam in September/October. I have the HSPS...

Thank You! I will come prepared to my appointment and keep pushing to talk to someone. I'm not sure if it is the same guy they told me they were in the process of getting a new healthcare recruiter for this area, and that could be what is holding up applications. Did you go in fully qualified? or go through NTP?

Osama Bin Ladin is DEAD! Hooray.

I was wondering what my chances are in getting into the AF right now as a critical care nurse. I am almost done with my MSN with a 3.9 GPA accredited by CCNE. I have 4 years PICU experience and I was prior active duty for 6 years (but not in nursing). I know the AF is giving 30K bonuses for critical care nurses for 3 years signup. I really want to go back in. Anyone have word on selection for FY12?

I recently sent my packet for the board to review in JULY. I am applying for the Health Profession Scholarships (HPS) for FNP. Can you elborate on the process after you turn in your packet to your recuiter? I am wondering how long will it before I hear whether or not if I got selected. I am soooooo nervous. I heard it is HIGHLY competitive to get the scholarship with the AF. But my recuiter has faith I will be just fine. I am prior service (AF) and am a pretty decent student.

I applied for the July board for the HPSP for my MSN/FNP.

My recruiter called and told me I got selected yesterday.
