Air Force NTP Applicant FY17

Published

Anyone looking at applying for USAF NTP program for FY17? I am trying to get the process going, but having a hard time getting consistent comms with the recruiter in my region. I was told Nurse Corps recruiting business has been moved from the Goodyear (AZ) station to the Aurora/Denver station. Spoke once a few weeks ago with a SGT Brown in the Aurora/Denver office, but haven't been able to get a hold of him since then via phone - no one answers the phone and there is no option to leave a voicemail. I failed to get his email address the one time I talked to him, so can't contact via email. Anyone have any insight?

Good luck to everyone during the application process. I am also in the process of applying for the Air Force NTP for FY17. I am pretty excited about this process, but also a bit nervous. I will be graduating with a BSN this May with a Psychology minor. I have a 3.78/4.00 GPA and have held a leadership position on campus as a Resident Assistant for the past three years. I passed my MEPS a few weeks ago, and I have my interview coming up mid-April. Does anyone have any advice for the CN interview and how to prepare for COT if selected? I want to make sure I am prepared as best as possible prior to all of this. Any input will be greatly appreciated, and good luck again to all of you!

I'm surprised that you've already been to MEPS. Usually they don't send people to MEPS until they've already been selected. Has your recruiter sent you the preparation paperwork for the CN interview?

I've already submitted my application workbook and letters of recommendation, as well as official transcripts. My resume and applicant questionnaire have also been completed and submitted. Are there more components I'm not aware of?

I have done everything (including the CN interview) and my entire packet has been submitted but MEPS doesn't usually happen until after the board meets over the summer and you find out if you have been selected or not. They use to send everyone to MEPS (like they do with enlisted) but that was wasting a lot of time and money since the majority end up not getting selected so they changed it. Maybe they do something different if the applicant is still in nursing school but I don't know why they would. Who knows, it seems like all the recruiters do something different or have different information :/

How does it work when you're still in nursing school? Do you have to take/pass the NCLEX before the board meets? Or can the board select you before you take the NCLEX and you just have to pass before you get commissioned?

Grippos85, I was told that I can still apply while in nursing school, and that I will just need to pass my NCLEX by the time I am commissioned. What advice do you have for the CN interview? Good luck with everything!

Has your recruiter sent you any of the CN preparatory paperwork? Like the questions that they might ask and all that? My recruiter sent mine the morning before my interview :/ If you haven't received it yet, I don't mind emailing you what I was sent. I also found it helpful to read the other Air Force NTP threads on here from the past couple years. Where will you be going to interview? Are you applying to the OB or med/surg route?

I contacted my recruiter this morning and he sent me preparatory documents about getting ready for the interview as well as question topics. I have also been preparing with interview tips and questions from my university's career center. I am applying for the med/surg route and have my interview 4/13 at Scott AFB.

You sound very prepared. I'm sure you'll do great!

Hi and thank you. Please tell me about PT did anyone fail, or get kicked out?

So I'm getting ready for my chief nurse interview, should get my date soon. I am however a little nervous of my entire transition period so if anyone has any tips (especially you military spouses). I am currently working in Okinawa as a civilian DOD employee so I would have to go back to the states before COT and My husband and children would receive our house hold

Goods and stay with family while I'm at COT and NTP. my kids are school aged as well. Any tips? I don't want to register them for a school for just a couple months. Looking at COT may or August. Sorry for the long post.

Do any of you know how your experience translates into credit towards your rank? I know NTP is for less than 1 year of experience but chances are some of the candidates will acquire at least some experience before commissioning and COT. Just wondering.

Hi all-I am also applying for the NTP program for FY17. I am applying for medsurg. I am in the national guard right now and have been for two years (as of tomorrow-crazy how fast the time goes!). Good luck to everyone!
