Air Force NTP Applicant FY17

Published

Anyone looking at applying for USAF NTP program for FY17? I am trying to get the process going, but having a hard time getting consistent comms with the recruiter in my region. I was told Nurse Corps recruiting business has been moved from the Goodyear (AZ) station to the Aurora/Denver station. Spoke once a few weeks ago with a SGT Brown in the Aurora/Denver office, but haven't been able to get a hold of him since then via phone - no one answers the phone and there is no option to leave a voicemail. I failed to get his email address the one time I talked to him, so can't contact via email. Anyone have any insight?

I'm planning on applying FQ OB. I've been a nurse since 2009 with most of my experience being in OB services--antepartum, postpartum, well baby, Level II NICU, Labor and Delivery.

Thank you so much for such in depth answers! I am so excited to get going with this. I don't graduate until end of April and they said I wouldn't start officer training until January, so much time until then! I'm from Florida too! I wouldnt mind being in Tampa for officer training (do you get to pick?) but Id rather be in texas for officer training, I heard that was an option.

The nursing program Im in really pushes you to go the extra mile too, and I definitely think it was good prepping for the Air Force.

Right now Im working on getting my file together, soon will schedule my interview and Im trying to keep my GPA up, it's hard to though, I hope they account what school you go to??

What is PT training like??

I'm also applying for the FY2017 NTP (Med Surg) and was super happy to come across this thread! I've turned in all my documents to my recruiter and am currently waiting to schedule CN interview. How's everyone else progressing??? :)

I have my CN interview tomorrow. Thankfully my husband is AD AF and we live on base so I don't have far to go. He's currently deployed so I feel like I'm being pulled in a million directions lately (two kids). I can't wait until all of the components of the application are done and I can sit back and wait (although that's hard too). How is everyone else doing?

Hi Breathsoccer ! I am applying too and I bet we have the same recruiter. I am in Okinawa and he is in Hawaii. Still working on two of my letters. Best of luck!!!

How did your interview go?

It went really well! The Lt. Col. was very friendly and definitely put me at ease. It felt more like a discussion rather than an interview.

Are you applying for FQ or NTP? I'm only asking because I would assume that with a MSN you would have over a year of experience and would go FQ. Either way, how is your process going? Is your spouse AD as well (since you're in Okinawa)?

That's awesome! Good Luck. I still haven't received that date for my interview. I have actually only done community health and Home visiting so the Air Force does not consider that experience, so I have to apply via NTP. My husband is not AD, I am a DOD employee overseas, doing home visiting.

Oh ok well that makes sense then. Are you applying for med/surg or OB?

How were the courses to get your MSN? I've applied to graduate school (plan b in case I don't get selected for the Air Force) and hopefully I can get that done before we PCS again.

Classes were ok. The most challenging were the advanced patho, pharmo, health assessment but that's probably because it haven't been bedside for a long while. I am applying for OB and you? I understand it's super competitive, like super.

I applied for the med/surg route. I just got hired on to a pediatric floor and I start training for that next week. I'm so worried about finding child care for my 19-month old :/
