Air Force NTP Applicant FY17
You sound very prepared. I'm sure you'll do great!

Has your recruiter sent you any of the CN preparatory paperwork? Like the questions that they might ask and all that? My recruiter sent mine the morning before my interview :/ If you haven't received it yet, I don't mind emailing you what I was sent. I also found it helpful to read the other Air Force NTP threads on here from the past couple years. Where will you be going to interview? Are you applying to the OB or med/surg route?

I have done everything (including the CN interview) and my entire packet has been submitted but MEPS doesn't usually happen until after the board meets over the summer and you find out if you have been selected or not. They use to send everyone to MEPS (like they do with enlisted) but that was wasting a lot of time and money since the majority end up not getting selected so they changed it. Maybe they do something different if the applicant is still in nursing school but I don't know why they would. Who knows, it seems like all the recruiters do something different or have different information :/ How does it work when you're still in nursing school? Do you have to take/pass the NCLEX before the board meets? Or can the board select you before you take the NCLEX and you just have to pass before you get commissioned?

I'm surprised that you've already been to MEPS. Usually they don't send people to MEPS until they've already been selected. Has your recruiter sent you the preparation paperwork for the CN interview?

I applied for the med/surg route. I just got hired on to a pediatric floor and I start training for that next week. I'm so worried about finding child care for my 19-month old :/

Oh ok well that makes sense then. Are you applying for med/surg or OB? How were the courses to get your MSN? I've applied to graduate school (plan b in case I don't get selected for the Air Force) and hopefully I can get that done before we PCS again.

It went really well! The Lt. Col. was very friendly and definitely put me at ease. It felt more like a discussion rather than an interview. Are you applying for FQ or NTP? I'm only asking because I would assume that with a MSN you would have over a year of experience and would go FQ. Either way, how is your process going? Is your spouse AD as well (since you're in Okinawa)?

I have my CN interview tomorrow. Thankfully my husband is AD AF and we live on base so I don't have far to go. He's currently deployed so I feel like I'm being pulled in a million directions lately (two kids). I can't wait until all of the components of the application are done and I can sit back and wait (although that's hard too). How is everyone else doing?

Anyone else applying? Those that are applying, how is everything in the process going?

I'm thinking about applying for the NTP FY17. I spoke to a recruiter (via email) yesterday and he sent me some forms but that's about as far as I've gotten but since stuff isn't due until July, I guess I have time to figure things out. Lasarazen when I found the closest health care professionals recruiter, I had to go through the AF page and select a health care professional recruiter (as opposed to enlisted or college graduate) and I put in my zip code and it gave me the closest location and email address of the recruiter there. [email protected] is the email address listed for the Aurora office...which is weird because the email address I got from my closest recruiter is an actual person's email address with their first and last name like most official military email addresses.

TSU fall nursing program
Got an email today from the nursing program and some of the textbook readings have changed somewhat. The only changes in the reading I see are from the Kozier and Erb's Fundamentals of Nursing (Berman and Snyder). I'm sure everyone got the email as well but just in case...

Those aren't the books that we're using this semester and I could only hope to only spend around $700 on everything for 2 semesters but I don't see that happening...Even books on Amazon are not THAT much cheaper...I've checked. I may need to sell my first born to afford all this stuff...totally kidding...

It would probably be OVER $1000 if you paid full price for all of your textbooks and supplies (uniform, nurse pack which is like $170-ish, stethoscope, blood pressure cuff, etc.)

If anyone doesn't have all the required textbooks just yet, you should go to Half.com and just enter the ISBN numbers and you can actually rent them for pretty cheap...that's what I've done with most of my textbooks...
