Just wanted to start a thread to see who else will be attending COT in January and to share any info that we obtain through the grapevine.

Hopefully you'll get a sponsor who will guide you to the right neighborhoods to rent/buy if you are going to live off base. When you first get there you will stay in billeting, check into the unit and get 7-8 house hunting days if not you can live in base housing and from all the bases I've been officers have pretty nice houses. We've started looking on militarybyowner.com to get an idea of the rent we are expecting to pay.

I've been doing some research, and from what I've read it seems like the Northeast area of town is the place to be, which is where SAMMC is coincidently. To be honest I would have nothing against living on base, either Fort Sam Houston or Randolph AFB, and if options exist I may just opt for either one. In practicality SAMMC is right next door to Fort Sam...so how much easier could life be? But, all of this and more is to come as soon as the official orders are processed. I've sent in both my letter of acceptance and my security clearance paperwork, so now I'm just waiting.

Headed to COT Jan and then to Eglin AFB

Congrats on Eglin...wish I was heading to FL!

Is anyone able to get on the Air University portal website from home?

Brewmedic,

No. My recruiter said that the website is under constructions which is also what it says when I try to log in.

Specializes in OR.

I'll be joining you all in January and then heading to Nellis AFB in Las Vegas! Super excited!

Is anyone on here going from Air Guard to Active Duty? Wondering what all will be involved in the out processing from my Guard unit and into Active Duty.

So has anyone sworn in with their recruiter yet? If not what are you being told for a possible date?

I'm swearing in on the 4th. My recruiter is sending me the paperwork being that we are in different states now, so an officer that my husband knows will be doing my commissioning. It still doesn't feel real that I was selected...maybe after I swear in. Has anyone heard about purchasing the mess dress? I bought all my uniforms except the mess dress due to its cost but I will most likely buy it here so I can order the medals I need.

Specializes in ICU.

I took Oath on 10/09. My COT date is March 4th and my base is Travis AFB. I am a critical care nurse.

Any critical care nurses with a March COT date going to Travis? Please let me know.

Here's a link that someone posted on another topic that I thought would help out those who are having trouble with the website.
