WAIT.... ! I WANNA GO !!!
God BLESS You !!!
After 2 years regular AF as a medic, I went Reserves for 2 more years... did air evac. Like you, I LOVED every minute ! Wish I still were in. You Flight Nurses were my heroes, my idols at the time.
I would follow you around like a puppy dog, and absorb and learn as much as I could. Still have my wings and my flight suit.. even my jump boots and parachute knife...(which we were later informed we would never have use for, because if the plane went down, we were required to stay with our patients...)
I sure do miss those days. And now that I'm finally a nurse, I am too old to do what I would give anything to do... go with you ! My Dad was air evacced from Frankfurt Hosp. in Germany to Walter Reed. The second time he didn't make it.. passed away over the English Channel.
I was stationed at the USAF Hosp. in Wiesbaden (also where I grew up) which is where all the wounded soldiers and hostages used to be sent.. apparently now they're going to Ramstein.. know it well. Joined my Dad there for many a meal at the Officers' Club.
Please keep in touch. And thank you for your service ! :)
BE SAFE !
