Hi everyone,
I´m a registered nurse from Germany with 4 years experience. Went to the whole registration process with ahpra and waited 7 months. Today I received an email, that they are considering to refuse my application. The reason for that is, that they do not consider my training as equivalent with the Australian one. That is really a joke. Has someone ever been in this situation before? How did you write your appeal letter?
Hi everybody. My case officer emailed me today (without me emailing her first....and that's a first!!). They have now found me suitable for registration and I have received an in-principle approval letter of registration. My registration will be final when I show up in person at an APHRA-office in Australia before December 2014. And thus no need for me to do a Bridging Program.
So now I can proceed and get my approval from ANMC before applying for a visa. Hopefully this will be easier than APHRA. It's been one of the best Monday's in a while.
No answer as to what ended up being the deciding factor in my appeal. I've sent them an email and asked them to elaborate - though I doubt they will. If they do I will pass it on...as it might help others.
Nosilea - have you heard anything??
Oh great, what an ordeal, as I said, they give letters of approval to applicants who we know dammed well are not university educatedfrom some countries so what's the difference I'm the European system at least you guys from what you have said have length of quality qlincal time.. Good luck
My case officer emailed me back. She has no idea as to why they would now acknowledge my nursing degree but she wrote "...but I would think it was the quality of your submission and the equivalence of qualification. The minimum qualification for registration as you know is a bachelor degree or equivalent so you must have been able to demonstrate this in your submission."
I don't know if it will help anybody but that's the only reason I could get. Nosilea, any news??
Nosilea - any news?? You must have heard something by now as I have already received the formal letter per mail from Australia. I hope it all went okay and that they approved you too. I have now lodged my application with ANMC (still find it odd that I have to have my degree approved two different places - you would think that it was possible to do it at the same institution/government body).
Merry Christmas to everyone.
Dear all, still no news. I emailed my case officer again today asking her about the obvious. I am really anxious but unfortunately Melbourne branch is far more slow than the Sydney one. Dear Lizbeth, did you check out the visa wizard? I have the impression that as soon as you have the registration, you are eligible to apply for the skilled select visa. This will save you a lot of wasted time. I will post my news, as soon as I have them. Merry Christmas to you all and I hope the New Year will bring some luck to us poor nurses.
Lizbeth, you could try though to find an employer to sponsor you a 457 visa. This is a quick and cheap way to come to Australia. Have you tried that yet? Maybe there is a willing employer out there to sponsor you this visa (it doesn't cost them that much and there are a lot of employers who do as such). Cheers!

That's okay, Australians have to do English test for the U K nursing council, any English speaking first language countries do not have to do English test for AHPRA.
