No advice, but I'll join you in rejoicing the near-end of summer term. We have check-offs on vitals, elimination and positioning. After that, we have to do a teaching/learning presentation on fire safety at a daycare and for our classmates, then have three more exams. After tomorrow, I'll have to spend less than 3 full days on campus until fall semester starts up in late August. Woohoo! :)
I'm SO glad we didn't have to take pharm in the half-summer term (the upgrade and ADN students have to, yuck for them!)
Not rejoicing here. Summer vacation is nearly over. I've had nearly three glorious months of going to the gym , taking trips
, eating right and taking care of myself
, going to the beach
and sleeping late into the mornings
Its all nearly OVER, OVER OVER!!!
Yes, I had to work but it was per diem and I was blessed, truly blessed, to be stable enough financially to work as few as two days a month if I chose. I didn't read a single book and didn't cook and... you get the picture. Soon, very soon, it will be back to reality. Already I'm reading that med/surg textbook.
It's sad, isn't it?
I had Pharm and Critically Ill Adults.... med surg.... this past spring semester.... I also took Physiological Chemistry and Human Genetics last summer.... AT THE SAME TIME... what was I thinking....and made it through all of them.
My advice to you for studying is NOTECARDS.
I'm not sure how they present the material for pharm at your school but its strickly memorization at our school. I found it best to make note cards and even make seperate cards of the drugs in certian classifations. When Im waiting in line at the grocery, bank..... waiting to pick up kids.... I whip out my cards and study. You actually learn by making the cards as well.
For Med surg... I just locked myself in a room with no windows and went over and over my notes and read them outloud and took a break about every half hour.... you only can retain the material for about 20 mins at a time anyway.... you are only wasting time if you try to cram. Even if its only standing up and breathing and sitting back down. I know some students who recopy their notes after each class or right before the test. There are somethings that you just HAVE to copy over and over like lab values.... the only way to memorize them is to write them over and over and say them outloud... my kids can tell you normal K and Na values in the average adult now .
Good luck with your tests.

Hey Mermaid! I like your studying tips! Thanks!
As far as summer vacation...it's almost over here too... I haven't had class since the middle of June, and even though I picked up a few extra days at work, it hasn't been killer.
I haven't done too much of anything, except go swimming a few times, took the kids to the zoo and toted them to their summer fun times!
School starts againg August 23rd, and frankly, I am ready!
My summer session ended on Friday!!! :balloons: Now i just have to attend the graduating class's pinning ceremony on Monday, then I am done until 8-16-04!!
I just volunteered yesterday for the graduating class's pinning cermony. I don't know how they walk the stage without crying? This is something I've worked toward my whole adult life, how am I going to keep myself from crying in April? I was in tears yesterday, and I wasn't even getting pinned yet!

I have a med-surg exam, med-surg final, and then two weeks of pharmacology! I think the hard part will be staying motivated to study! Any suggestions.
