Check with the hospital-every facility has different policies..

i applied and got a job with a hospital that uses my agency. i had never worked there, so it was not a problem. the way that i understand it is, if you have worked at the hospital through the agency (time period varies) the hospital has to compensate the agency monetarily in order to hire you d/t the loss of money that the agency would incur by you working directly for the hospital and not through agency.

Yes, as long as you have never worked for them there.

does this mean that everytime i apply to a hospital ill let them know that i am already employed by an agency first hand?..

if ever i get accepted to that hospital should i let the agency know about the position so they wont give me assignments to that hospital?

You do not need to tell the hospital about your agency work. You can tell the agency not to send you to a specific facility because you are an employee there.

Simple as that.

thanks suzanne for all the answers to some petty questions of mine..im so new to this that sometimes a simple dilemma could be so overwhelming..

i have another question..my specialty is med-surg..but i have been tied up to this for 7 years now that i want variety..could i get this from an agency too? i would also like to try working in clinics etc. for a change..then my ultimate goal would be going into icu...how can this work?..thanks again.

Agency will not work for you to go to ICU. You will need a full orientation for that, and that is not the object of working agency to give you training. You are expected to already have the training because you are filling in when they are short-staffed.

Clinic may be something that would work, but then again it would depend on the type of clinic, and you usually do not see too many orders for clinic positions given to agencies.
