  2. i agree that pay here is not that much...but i sooo love this place...ive been here since just last year and i love the place right away..ive been to california, virginia, tennssee but i settled for this..jax is a little laid back as compared to cali but not as laid back as tn..lots of nursing options to choose from...churches are depending on where you live...here in our place we have 2 churches that are just 10 min away from us...schools are a lot.. and yea, filipinos are everywhere since the naval base is here..so you wont feel that homesick.. if you got anymore more ? just email me....kita kita na lang tayo:welcome:
  3. hello guys...this question is for all home owners out there..im in florida and had fallen inlove with a house that is 2 years old.when we have inspected the house first time it is in good condition and needs minimal fixing up and cleaning up most especially the carpet, the bathrooms plus theres a lot of stuff in the garage.. i made an offer and wrote on the contract all the things needed to be fixed and that the house should be clean up before the closng. the seller agreed. we have shceduled a walk through friday last week (this is after a month of the offer)but got it cancelled because the state of the house is still the same as it was) .we got it again scheduled this monday but my realtor said that when they went there this morning it still is not cleaned yet. the owner said that shell get it done tuesday.so we reschedule the walk through again on tuesday and the closing on wednesday..i am so frustrated as i tried to accomodate all their cancellations despite the diffiuclty of doing it as i am working too . the seller doesnt seem to be so enthusiastic about the whole process. my question is what can i do if by tuesday , theres nothing that has been done yet?...can i cancel the closing? what other options do i have?...please i need your advise...thanks...
  4. very well said.......i have friends whoa re planning on moving to california...standars ofl iving there may be high but they are well compensated..unlike here that housing costs are rising but the salary have been left behind.......im working prn but all iacan squeeze out from the hospital is 25 an hour..my friends in tn whose also prn gets better pay than me...and they thought living here in florida with all the sunshine would compensate for that...huh! if they only knew..
  5. ACW, thanks a lot for your reply. i was quite concerned because i was accepted in a rehab hospital and will be working prn. and this nursing job really requires lifting and bending .i am very much worrried for my baby.now im quite relieved that im not the only pregnant nurse whos working her bu## off. i am planning on taking 3 8 hours shift a week so it wont be so hard..i have bills to pay too,you know....thanks a lot again for the motivational reply.
  6. hello cllrn...i guess its because i applied here in downtown baptist..how far is your hospital from the intercoastal?...i live in beach blvd and st johns so downtown baptist is nearest to me...but i do wiah i could find a full time position. what i did is applied to another hospital but all the same, they only need prn. so i got 2 prn jobs right now which is good so i have a back up if ever i get cancelled from the other one.thats the best i could have right now.
  7. to all ortho nurses anyone experienced working in ortho floor pregnant?...just curious since it involves alot of lifting so how do u guys manage this?
  8. hi.. ive been here in jax for almost 8 months now but has just started serious job seeking 2 months ago..i applied in both mayo/st lukes and baptist. i got accepted in baptist for a prn job as they dont have any full time day shifts (but i think they have night shifts and im not cut out for it)..st lukes hard to break through. you cannot apply personally except online and theres no way to follow it up..i applied last june but until now i havenot heard from them. i dont know about shands. i also work in an agency but all they are giving me are nursing home jobs which are not my cup of coffee...pay is not much. i have 7 years med-surg but only offered 25/hour for aprn job...hope this gives you an idea of how is it down here...
  9. hello..ive just relocated here in florida and was from tennessee..first what part of tn are you heading..i worked in southern hills medical center in nashville in med-surg..i dont know if they have any opening in dialysis . i started at 19/h with an experience of 5 years that time but in my 2 yrs stay with them i was increased to 23/h.theres a lot of other hospitals there too but i think this hospital pays the same or higher.hope this helps.
  10. i will have an interview for a rehab hospital tom. after i read some of the posts here ,being pregnant , i have doubts if im headed in the right direction , safety for me and the baby to consider, any of you has experienced working in rehab and pregnant?
  11. hey, suzanne... is it alright though for them to place me on the other branch of the hospital that i will be working ?...wouldnt it be a conflict of interest?
  12. hello.. im happy that i have been offered a prn position in one of the hospitals(HOSPITAL A) that i have applied.one question is that one of the agency that im working with is planning on placing me in this hospital's other branch(HOSPITAL B)..im thinking of quitting on this agency as being a prn for hospital A and working already with another agency that has also started the process in placing me with another hospital (the one with computer training problem )will be toomuch for me to handle.how do you guys handle this?..whats a good way of saying goodbye to a nursing agency?
  13. hiya guys!..anybody here working only prn?..whats the advantages and disadvantages?...is it stable or you also get cancelled a lot?..
  14. hey, ted.thats a great idea...and then ill guess ill look into large teaching hospital here in our area..if i started as a new onco nurse is my pay gonna be the same as a new grad nurse?...just a thought.
  15. oh yes!!..everybody has been very helpful and made me realize a lot of things..i have one question to pose in relation to all this..do you guys have any idea how long shouldnt i be working with this agency so i could get into this hospital..ive weighed all the facts ,opinios and advices and i think im pretty off working in this hospital rather than with this agency.plus i want stability that this agency is not offering...whats the process on quitting if you are an agency nurse?
