I know American Mobile is the largest company and has the "monopoly" on the Los Angeles/Southern California area. I'm interested in hospitals like UCLA, Cedars Sinai, Keck in LA but also hospitals like UC Irvine or Hoag in the OC. Apparently American Mobile doesn't seem to have the best reputation, so do you guys know of other agencies that contract with these top-rated hospitals?
Thanks!

Try Emerald or Valley. Cross Country as the other mega agency will also have plenty of assignments. It is possible that those agencies will be AM subcontractors at some hospitals (notably Kaiser hospitals) but at least you won't have the direct jeopardy of being an AM employee.
The pay difference between Southern and Northern California is significant so don't be surprised if recruiters push you north. If you want San Diego, stand firm and pay the sun tax.
Thanks for the info! Do you happen to know what agencies contract with Long Beach Memorial and Hoag?

I'm with FlexCare at UC Irvine. I did not see any jobs with those other big teaching hospitals (not Long Beach Memorial, or would've jumped on that) when I was receiving job referrals through them.

You can either poll agencies for those hospitals, or try calling HR/staffing directly to ask for what agencies they use.

I'd recommend joining Travel Nursing: The Premium Job Board and The Travel RN Job Group. They are FB groups you can join to see what agencies are offering. The rules of the group are that recruiters must post specifics like pay packages. Recruiters are not allowed to message you without your permission or they are kicked out of the group. Some people join under pseudonyms to stay anonymous and cruise the posts.

Does Hoag still hire travelers? I haven't come across postings from Hoag before.
Cross Country is the vendor for Cedars and UCSD. I always saw positions for UC Irvine, UC Keck and UCLA with Cross Country when I worked with them.
All hospitals I've mentioned are always hiring travelers. You could try a large company then a few smaller ones and see who pays more. These hospitals you mentioned are not exclusive to one company.

How is it going at UC Irvine @Michi66
I am considering possibly working there with FlexCare as well
Thanks for all the tips!
