You do realise the LPN will not meet immigration requirements for the US and for Canada you need to be licensed in the country you trained and as far as I am aware there is no licensed exam in the Philippines for LPN?

First, there is retrogression in place as far as the US is concerned - immigration is taking 5 years or more for qualified nurses.

Second, to my knowledge, to be licensed as an nurse and to immigrate as such, you must have a BSN from the Philippines and pass the RN NCLEX. As an LPN. you would not qualify.

My question is, knowing that you could not work as an LPN in the Philippines, why did you pursue that course of study? For that matter, why is that course offered there, if it is not useful for local employment, and were the limitations that it imposes not explained upfront?

I can't speak for Canada but here in the US, brand new nurses - registered or vocational - face a very difficult time finding employment. I'm talking about citizens and residents who are already here... You're probably not likely to find a US job anytime in the next several years (and I think it'll prove to be much longer than most are expecting).

Practical nursing in Canada is TWO year course. Locally educated PNs have had a hard time finding that first job due to the recession in our country. Roughly 50% of last years grads found work in my province.

I've worked with RNs from your country who wound up working as LPNs due to their education as nurses being found lacking. Several struggled to work as LPNs in my province due to the scope of the two nurses being very similar in some areas.

At 18, you cannot be expected to support and send two siblings to school.

Nursing is not the golden ticket it once was and people overseas not to stop thinking it is. But as others have asked why did you pursue an education that is worthless in your own country?

The Philippines trains LPNs purely for export. But I think they do a lousy job of being up front with their students as to the realities of the rest of the world. There are some schools that are in it purely for the money and have no concerns whatsoever about what happens to their graduates once the cheques are cashed.

thanks to all of you...

upon reading you replies i may say that i am beginning to feel hopeless about my situation right now, i took this course because they offered it to me for free, in short i am a scholar, i am aware that i cannot practice this course in our country, but they told me that they're gonna help me finding job abroad once i graduated. But now i am so worried because it seem that they already forgot what they've told me. I really love nursing that is why i grabbed the opportunity to study even it is PN only hoping that i could also work in abroad.

Anyway, Guys..thank you for giving your attention to my message and for informing me about this thing i appreciated it.:)

Gracelle, I am sorry that you have been told lies by the company that has trained you, but they are lies and shame on them. I know it is hard but you really may need to consider RN training although I am not sure if there are any types of bridging courses in the Philippines
